Eva Braun was Hitler's secret lover for more than 13 years. To this day, she is regarded as an apolitical and naïve appendage of the mass murderer. But who was the "bride of evil" really? Officially, Eva Braun was Hitler's private secretary at the Berghof. It was only after her death that she became a public figure in Germany. Together with Adolf Hitler, she took her own life in the bunker beneath the Reich Chancellery in Berlin on 30 April 1945. The dictator had previously married his long-time lover. Hidden from the national community, she spent most of her time in Munich or at Hitler's mountain farm in the Alps. The first academic biography by Heike B. Görtemaker aims to revise the image of the blonde and apolitical ditz at the dictator's side.
