Lyrics

Hey, it’s not that late
You came here for a moment
Of love
Just, a bit of space
A change here from the city
Of love

I wrote your name down on the hillside in my mind
I wrote your name down
And ooh, I keep a picture of you here in my head
And ooh, I breathe a little deeper with every breath
But hope for the future got me on my knees
And ooh, I keep a picture of you here in my head

The breeze here always stirs
The grasses of our memories
Alive

I wrote your name down on the hillside in my mind
I wrote your name down

And ooh, I keep a picture of you here in my head
And ooh, I breathe a little deeper with every breath
But hope for the future got me on my knees
And ooh, I keep a picture of you here in my head

Thought that I could hear you whisper softly
Can’t be only me that hears the sound
But it’s the ones in charge who write the history
Each time

And ooh, I keep a picture of you here in my head
And ooh, I breathe a little deeper with every breath
But hope for the future got me on my knees
And ooh, I keep a picture of you here in my head

Bastille is one of the reasons I have faith in humanity, when someone as talented as Dan stays so humble, so honest and so caring, we all can look inside to better our ways.

This is Portugal, probably the worst fire we had. Happened in the summer of 2017 in Pedrogrão Grande, 64 people died, many of those died on a road inside their cars when they were trying to run away, surrounded by enormous walls of fire, blinded by the smoke, the worst happened. We will never forget.

How Dan manages to stay so bloody humble and self-deprecating is beyond comprehension. I wish he would allow himself to acknowledge how massively talented, intelligent, knowledgeable and philanthropic he really is.

Thank you for this! For everyone in the comments that may not know the context of the scenes that appear in this video, it shows moments from one of the biggest fires in Portugal that happened in Pedrógão Grande, sadly there were 66 deadly victims and hundreds of people got hurt, it burned around 53 thousand acres.

I cried a lot with this video. My hometown. The place where I grew up. My happy place. My Pedrógão Grande. Thank you so much for this. We are more than a fire.

When I hear this, I think of the half-sister and nephews I just discovered I have. I am 59 with no children, nor were there any more descendants of my father...until now. She is 60. It is a miracle! They are constantly on my mind in the best way, my wonderful hope for the future that I didn't know there was. ♡♡♡

My heart goes out to the lost and their families who are still grieving. Bastille has shown their heart and soul in the making of this video; this video will forever show the memory of that day.

I'm actually surprised in a good way this way of trying to show the world one of the worst wildfire we had here in Portugal and the scars it leaves not only in the population but on earth as well. Well done, really well done Bastille. Can't wait for you to come back to Portugal

This video has been out for almost 24 hours and it took me three tries to actually finish it. I'm angolan, but have been living in Lisbon for 11 years. I remember the fires in Pedrogão. I've never been there, but just seeing it happen in the news was absolutely heartbreaking. The image of the long road with all the burned cars, smoke and ashes will never leave my mind. There was (is really) so much loss. As always you did a beautiful work with this song. And although it was hard to watch it is a great video!

The ability to so delicately and effectively communicate the indomitable human spirit in a single song is astounding to me. It truly is beautiful.
