Disclaimer: I'm a fan of Shane and I think the content he and Andrew are putting out is incredible, however, I do have some issues with this series. This video is more opinionated than my last one, but based on what we've seen in this series and what I covered in my last video, I think that's okay.

LOL "shane seems like a really genuinely sweet guy who just wants everyone to get along and wants to be everyone's friend" didn't age well (not criticizing you it's just interesting how the narrative has shifted)

I hated that that therapist was trying to diagnose Jake. She breached so many psychology ethics, just google them. She can be in the position to lose credit for her psychology degree, that is if she actually has them.

You have the real tea! Agreed that Shane wants too badly to be everyone's friend to make these kinds of videos.

Some of the things that I want to bring up but had to cut for time or that I found after editing. This list will grow if any of you feel things should be added. - Nerd City's video also focused heavily on how Jake acts with the kids he uses in his vlogs and how there is no way that the baby twins are acting when they are clearly scared of him when he yells at them. -Ivan Martinez tweeted screenshots of a DM he sent to Shane after the final ep came out, saying he takes bullying seriously and that he didn't lie about it. The DM also implies that Shane didn't reach out to him prior to this. at least on Instagram. -The video clip of Jake on his last tour, where he is rapping a new song with the line "Came to Barley House got punched in the face, yeah that's my old girl..." which is a reference months prior when Alissa and Banks were at the Barley House and in a fight where Alissa got punched in the face and got a fat lip and a black eye. Just a bad line if you want to try and sell that you are serious about an assault. -Logan put out in an unrelated vlog what happens when you get choked out by someone who is trained to do it, to the point he either actually passes out or pretends to. No bruise. -Tessa tweeted out that it was getting harder and harder to stay silent, Shane responded referencing how that's what his ass does, which kind of makes it come across as him dismissing her comment. -I don't like how Shane was claiming Jake was covering for Alissa to her during their interview when in Jake's interview it is basically had Jake blaming most of his issues on Alissa sleeping with Logan. "I could have cut him off but I know that what she wanted" basically make her out to seem like a mastermind that wanted to destroy their family. Is there anything else you want me to add?

Shane canā€™t handle constructive criticism tho. When people tell him to take more time so he doesnā€™t stress out and get another editor he shouts at people that they should be appreciative because heā€™s providing them ā€œfreeā€ content.

"Shane seems like such a genuine person" God this did not age well. Though I have to say even before the any of this blew up I still found it so annoying anyone called his content a 'documentary.' It is an insult to anyone actually working in the media or doing journalism to compare this crap to real documentaries. They were merely higher produced blog filmed on a dslr where you can hear the friggin focus ring being pulled in the God damn scenes! So bad! But this is nothing against you, lover your content and opinions on all the topics you cover! Keep up the good work! ā¤ļø

I love that you did a critique of this. Your content is so good. It's always been uncomfortable listening to people find ways to justify Shane's behavior though. I never bought his act, but I see how people collectively did their best to buy into the persona he was building for himself, even people who otherwise can see directly through bullshit. Now that he's been exposed as a toxic person and possible covert narcissist, it recontextualizes this entire docuseries.

I haven't watched the final part. I can't, it's so long and I know it doesn't need to be. I liked the Alissa video but Shane's interviewing in it wasn't great. And Like you said he want to be everyone's friend so I also know he's not gonna push Jake when he needs to or ask tough questions. I was so excited for this series but if Jake want a to continue doing documentaries I think he needs a team behind him and he needs to realise he can't be both a friend and an investigative interviewer.

I really liked your comment about how it's not a free pass to be mean to have a bad upbringing. I thought that for a long time, but I didint hear about it from someone else and I think it's really cool you mention it because, with the expand of medias and influencers, I think this dilemma is put into consideration more than ever before.

it's ironic because Logan proved in a video (unintentionally) about how getting choked out that way doesn't leave a bruise especially not instantly. I've never seen a bruise kick in so soon unless they were like really badly hit. It's so dumb that they're still lying about the assault.

Katie watching him might be unethical, but Jake fully signed up for this because he said himself he fully trusted Shane to do whatever basically allowing him to literally do whatever. Also maybe Shane and Jake did talk about Alissa's interview, but it was either off camera or cut out because even Nick said to not really mention it, plus she would not be there to defend herself against whatever he would have to say about her interview with Shane. I think both Jake and Alissa were confused about their relationship and neither of them really know what they were, maybe they had different perspectives and expectations of each other so they both were disappointed. Also, I really agree with the fact that Shane was biased when interviewing Jake because he started liking him a lot and did not want to be on a bad side. I think he just tried to represent Jake to be better than he actually is, trying to show only good sides, or mostly good ones, same way it was with Jefree. Anyways, thank you for the part two!

As a journalist, my advice for Shane going forward is if he's doing these type of interviews, he should bring a third party who can ask the hard questions, if he's not capable. Someone perhaps who has the skills, because not to sound like a snob but interviewing someone, especially when your dealing with sensitive topics is a skill which is learned. I mean Jesus when I first started I would kick myself because I'd forget to ask follow up questions or even ask the right question. But I learned that with time - it's all about feeling the room, knowing when to push, even when it's uncomfortable.

I agree with all of your points. I wish that he had cut all the sociopath stuff out and put that amount of energy into actually researching jake. I really do love shane and still watched the series, but I felt that the 'final interview' could've been in episode 1. From there he may have delved deeper into everything that they talked about. I thought he would've interviewed so many more people that had been in Jakes life? Anyway, you have a great perspective and you're very good at articulating your thoughts. Keep it up!!
