The only American who won't acknowledge this Administration's failed economic policies is Joe Biden. "Shrink-flation' is the least of our worries compared to rising rents and stagnant wages, but it is an undeniable indicator of how bad our inflation has gotten. I have $100k that i like to invest in a non-retirement account, any advice on that?

Recently bought some recommended stocks and now they are just penny stocks. There seems to be more negative portfolios in the last 3rd half of 2023 with markets tumbling, soaring inflation, and banks going out of business. My concern is how can the rapid interest-rate hike be of favor to a value investor, or is it better avoiding stocks for a while?

Reminds me of the gambling addict who, despite racking up more and more debts, continues to gamble more and more. It won't end well.

What is interesting is the idea that "we have not seen debt levels like this since WW2". That era was starkly different. At the end of the war, the US was the only industrialized nation around. They were able to quickly put all that excess cash into rapidly expanding the economy and giving people a better standard of living. That option no longer exists. Structurally, the US can only give money to the people who need it the least: banks, large corporations, and the defense industry. If we want the US to re-industrialize and become "competitive with China" somehow, this will not be possible without a complete revolution in our government, financial, and education systems.

The wealth of a nation isn’t printing money, it’s in your factories, farms, and services provided. What did the USA do?

The Chinese economy will grow even more when they realise they have a middle class that is larger than the entire population of North America. They have no need to export to NA for worthless, printed money when they have a ready supply of customers right at home. They'll have the added bonus of raising the standard of living for their citizens.

Look at what is happening in Argentina. Millei opted out of BRICS and went back to the dollar, and now the economy has worsened so that he is now trying to woo China back. Talk about hindsight being 20-20. It does not appear as though the Chinese are too excited about renewing the friendship.
