He answered his "salam" even thought he wasn't muslim. This is a high level of respect to your enemy.

Bro the 2000s were just different. You could feel the soul in these kinds of films.

"I will send you my physicians." Man, I can hear the sympathy in his voice. What an actor.

You have to wonder how different a world it might have been had Baldwin been healthy and ruled over Jerusalem for 20, 30, 40+ years and not just the 11 years of his actual reign. The man spent his entire reign walking a tightrope with no harness over a nest of vipers while a disease was literally eating him alive. He defended his land, his people, and his faith until the day he died. One of history's great characters.

An enemy you respect is worth more than a friend you cannot trust.

Two badass historic figures, their grand armies behind them, each representing their belief, and decide to just keep the peace & respect. That’s powerful.

As a Christian, I love how this movie portrays Salahuddin as a cunning and benevolent leader. Who shows he cares for the well being of his men even though he is confronted with war. He did all those soldiers a favor. He drew back to allow them and himself to come home to their families. ✝️🤝☪️

I miss the early 2000's: Gladiator, LotR trilogy, Troy, Kingdom of Heaven. I love massive ancient/medieval battles. Braveheart started it.

I like how even though the king of Jerusalem was VISIBLY sick and Saladin didn’t see it as an opportunity to attack him. He showed empathy and even offered medical help to enemy and it highlights not only their respect for each other but their own character and integrity. Smh I love this movie 🥹

"I pray you return unharmed to Damascus or we will all die here" with this sentence alone King Baldwin implies the battle would not have a decided winner thus giving Saladin the respect he deserves as a warrior and King while also being humble at the same time. Clearly Saladin admired this and immediately agreed to his terms while showing him respect in return and offering his help with Baldwin's health... Astounding leaders from both parties.

"I will send you my Physicians." I like how Saladin very much understands that Baldwin is wearing himself out and know how bad his condition is, but still sees him more friend and neighbor than enemy.

Both Baldwin and Saladin were good men. I like the way each are portrayed here, and the show of mutual respect reminds me of Proverbs 16:7, "When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him."
