"You don't see morphic resonance possibilities here?" "Oh yes, well I mean they're field phenomena in the most literal sense, aren't they?". For me this exchange illustrates perfectly what we are losing in science and culture as we go down this path we seem to be following. Thank you, Rupert, for walking the other way and for inviting us all to join you.

I've always thought the crop circles are actually communications from the Earth herself. I subscribe to the idea that all consciousness on this planet is the planet's consciousness. Where else might it come from if not her? The connection to human thought is complex and subtle and beyond our "understanding". I love the fact that they appear and the crops aren't damaged.

I used to be fascinated by crop circles and UFOs growing up in the 1980s and 90s, I remember buying UFO Reality UK based magazine religiously. Lost interest unfortunately into my 20s. Now since experiencing psychedelics in the last 3 years, discovered Rupert and never knew about this interest in UFOs! Great talk, thanks for sharing. ๐

Love these guys and their determination to find crop circles evidence of higher life forms. They found it of course, the guys who admit to making them have since come forward. They have used measurements and old fashioned ropes and wood boards.
Their efforts are widely known and documented by the men who made them.
I think it's important to remember that Esalen members are trying to advance ideas even if they've been debunked and that these people are truly trying to help people even if they're misguided. The more stubborn they are about crop circles being made by aliens and so on, the more comical and ridiculous they seem.
LSD, mushrooms and heavy, repeated pot smoking is part of their rituals and remain a base level for their mental journeys and hypothesis. ๐ฅฐ
Lots of love!!๐

I loved hearing about the circle making competition back in 1992 and the history leading up to it - I was one of the members of the winning team. We had a lot of fun doing the competition and the fact that it was so widely reported was very exciting, with local radio interviews, being on the front page of national papers etc. even a program on TV about it (and a cartoon in The Sun), but there were a few errors in the reporting that have long bugged me. - We were never helicopter engineers - we were designers from Normalair-Garrett, a subsidiary of Westland Helicopters working on aircraft cabin pressurisation and life support system technology. The way we made the ring without making a mark in the crop at its centre was very simple, using a windsurfer mast (from my late '80's Mistral Malibu i think) cantilevered horizontally above the crop with a string tied and taped to the end of the mast to make a suspended centre point without disturbing the crop below - elsewhere that has been described as a "telescopic device". It's also stated in some places that we had two step ladders and a plank as a bridge - nope. We modified a light weight aluminium ladder by adding legs with large feet at each end to make a portable bridge that wouldn't leave marks on the ground. We were very proud of that and delighted that Dave's welding held on the day - I think we were using scrap conduit as we were all broke at the time. You can buy them now for DIY/decorating - wish we'd patented the idea at the time. To cantilever the mast over the crop we simply strapped it to the bridge with roof rack straps. We ran out of time making the equipment so we never did a full scale practice, just a table top run through drawing it on paper to choreograph the team the night before. The competition was an awesome experience and I'm very grateful to the people that made it happen.
