Meet Our 2023 Mile Champions for the Nationwide Children's Hospital Columbus Marathon! Zavier is one of 24 patients treated at Nationwide Children’s Hospital selected to line each mile of the race, share their story and inspire others. Each Marathon Mile Champion picks a theme for their mile and is celebrated for their strength and bravery. There is also one Angel Mile to honor those who are no longer with us and one Encore Mile where we recognize every patient who has lined the course in the past. Together, our Mile Champions represent the more than 1.4 million patient visits to our hospital every year. Zavier is one of those patients! Back in 2022, Zavier was hit by a car while walking home from school. There wasn't a part of his body that wasn't injured that day - from broken bones to internal organ damage and a traumatic brain injury. But Zavier is a fighter. And more than a year later, he's still healing but he and his family celebrate his recovery milestones each day. This year, Zavier also can't wait to celebrate Nationwide Children's Hospital and the runners, volunteers and sponsors at the Columbus Marathon who are all raising money to help kids like him!
