Disney animator Aaron Blaise shows us how to animate an ogre using the new app, Procreate Dreams. Watch him draw the ogre's movements, one frame at a time, really paying attention to weight and movement so it looks real. You'll see him use cool features in the app like onion skinning and a timeline to animate the ogre walking over a city. This demo is a practical look at how Procreate Dreams simplifies frame-by-frame animation, making it straightforward for anyone interested in animating.

There is something satisfying about someone older teaching kids about tech. You don't see that everyday

Aaron Blaise is not only a master artist, but an incredibly gifted teacher. You’ll take away more in 30 minute demo than a university education. Looking forward to using dreams!

"Does animation ever feel like a grind for you?" The only reason anyone would ask that is because animation as we know it (through Disney/Bluth type films) is so rarely taught. Everyone would love to do it, but no one really shows the process from start to finish. Most animation courses talk about general stuff like the 12 principles, then show you that nauseatingly dull ball bounce, then maybe a few already-drawn examples, and leave it at that. Learning how to actually set things up with timing charts, doing rough drawings, starting with keys, then breakdowns, etc is a process that is actually really fun, though I'll admit it's been really difficult to find professional animators who demonstrate their pose-to-pose process in real time. What people think of as 'animating' today is either motion graphics type stuff or trying to animate straight ahead and hope for the best. Both of those examples definitely feel like a 'grind'.

Aaron is so cool. You can tell his passion and love for animation is still as strong as when he started and it’s super inspiring!

Pure talent. The lesson’s animation style reminds me of the large green beast in the 1970s Japanese anime titled Arabian Nights: Sinbad’s Adventures. It was a low-frame-rate animation, typical of that era, yet beautiful.

I started watching this with the intention of checking out just a few minutes, but I ended up sitting through the entire thing. Aaron is a brilliant teacher and just watching him work and speak so passionately about animation makes me excited to download Dreams and make my own animations asap! And thank you Proko for putting out this great content and letting us watch it for free. I can't even describe how much I've learned (and continue to learn) from this channel.

This is groundbreaking stuff for the ipad animation community.. You don't know how long we've waited for a procreate lvl animation app. This is like an early Christmas gift!

This is the best advertisement for procreate dreams they ever could've made. Seeing Aaron zoom in on that timeline and show the compositing tools he used in his short made me gasp. These kinds of tools on an iPad! I'm sold

I just downloaded the software and your tutorial is by FAR the best I've seen so far. Thanks for taking your time not only to show how to use the software but also to go over basic animation principles. You're a true animation legend ^_^.

For what I want to do with Procreate Dreams (frame animation replacing Animate/PS), this was the most useful guide on the software I've seen thusfar. Aaron is incredible.
