In Jersey City, we check in with filmmaker Sam Cannon, who uses still images, video, and other technologies to redefine assumptions of time, space and the human body, questioning the way we display and observe images of ourselves in the digital age. Across the river and earlier in the year, we re-visit the time artist Duke Riley released thousands of pigeons strapped with LEDs, dazzling the East River with twinkling choreography over The Brooklyn Navy Yard. Further north in Greenpoint Brooklyn, we chat with choreographer Katherine Maxwell and her dance company Hivewild who created Savage, a contemporary dance performance that captures humans in a "primal" state, defining borders between "nature" and "civilization."
