I think the doll is the spirits of the real Michiho and Douryou trying to help Gabu. The doll was at the location where The Departed killed them and took their identity.
I think I remember the doll talking about itself as "us" at some point.
And since they're spirits The Departed got stronger from eating them.

I'll explain each of The departed transformation: first form represents a fetus that is conjoined twins or deformity like a mutation. Second form represents a black widow and "killing Michiho" is like disturbed the egg sack unleashing the creatures hiding in her body like a pregnancy. The third form is represents childbirth.

Ah, the girl from the Princess Mach story that comes to the mansion is the protagonists friend from NG! It's Hazuki! She wants to be an occult idol in this game and has become one in NG! I didn't even catch on until like 20 minutes in, ha. That's why Hazuki is wearing a similar outfit to Mary in NG. I love that the two series interconnect so much. I love them both!

I think Yashiki/Gabu not being more strict and adamant about his boundaries with Michiho/Douryou could be how his character is. Too nice for his own good and being scared of people losing their lives because of him and he doesn’t want to regret not being there for them by pushing them away. This is shown how he’s too worried about saving people that was on the billboard instead of going for the main source, The Departed. And also how before Mashita appear, Yashiki/Gabu didn’t think about suspecting the people who has been nice and helpful to him because he trusted them too much.
He also not a very confrontational person so he rarely be more vocal on his stance until some of the characters, Sakamoto and the dorm reception, accuse him flat out.
