Many of the Caribbean countries, have their own versions. It was brought by the Africans. Itโs a take of the African Fufu. My grandmother would make the xaymacan version.

No it's NOT originally from Puerto Rico. This is originally from West African Cuisine tradition and the diaspora. I'm from Trinidad and Tobago, with tradition from Grenada, St. Vincent and Venezuela. In Trini, it's called pound plantain and served with meat and fish stew.
