Hey all! Im a fellow employee of Rileyâs at Critter Squad. Few things. Firstly, Riley and her brother started this company over two decades ago to inspire kids into loving and appreciating wildlife. The company takes 0 donations and barely profits from after school classes and events/parties. We work with over 150 different species who are often surrendered to us, or are rescued by Riley and the owner from euthanasia at animal shelters across LA.
Yea, we donât get everything right, it can be confusing working with so many animals. Our priority is always the animalâs well being, and the inspiration we want to provide our young audience to better our world in the future.
Riley has dedicated her life to this cause, so please be kind. â¤
I, of course, hope this time on the podcast has inspired so many others to further appreciate and love the wild, natural world. Thatâs what weâre here to do :)

The lady seemed super nice but she got a lot of things wrong... Ferrets arent vicious. And they arent native to anywhere. They are what humans made by domesticating weasels, they aren't just out and about in the wild and most of the time wont even survive if they manage to get out or are dropped off. Yes theyre carnivores but they arent vicious. And yes they have a smell but she really didn't need to just keep hammering down on that. All animals have a smell. And ferrets dont smell too bad at all as long as theyre cared for properly. Slinky probably smelled stronger there because she was excited and/or nervous because they poof out a scent when that happens. (And they really shouldnt pass a ferret around with out sanitizing their hands bc they are VERY susceptible to a lot of the diseases we humans have and its safer to sanitize before strangers do handling just in case)
No hate to her at all I think its wonderful she and her coworkers take in these animals. But the information was just not all correct and the focus on the ferrets being smelly was sad...
