If, for any reason, you fail at picking the safe locks in Sanctuary, you can also go into Settlement mode, and scrap the safes. Doing this will send the contents of the safes to your workbench. This works for every container in a settlement.
Also, if you have a powered water pump, the purified water pumped out will be sent to your workbench, which can then be sold or used as needed.
But, my favorite is that, once you hit Level 6, there is a sewer access point next to the blue Preservation Shelter in Concord. Change the difficulty to Very Hard and make a Quicksave BEFORE you enter it for the first time. When you enter, the game will autosave.
At the bottom of the stairs, their will be three radroaches. At Very Hard, there is a solid chance that one of them will be Legendary. Even on Very Hard, all three can be downed with a single Molotov Cocktail. If you don't get a Legendary item that you ljke, or none of the roaches are Legendary, reload the Quicksave. If you like the item that is Legendary, but dont like the effect, (A 10mm pistol with the Troubleshooter effect, for instance) reload the Autosave. It is save scumming, but this is a certain drop of a single starting Legendary item that will help you. (A Wounding Double Barrel Shotgun is god-killer tier, since it applies the bleed effect with each pellet.)
This works because enemies and loot are rolled as you enter the zone. But, Legendary effects are rolled as you kill the enemy that's holding it.

My TOP TIPS (especially Survival Mode )——->
—-> Codsworth is available as a companion without first needing to free Preston . Simply enter Concord far enough that Preston and the Raiders start fighting, return to Sanctuary, and he can be hired. Taking him along to free Preston can give some affinity boosts . Codsworth will give you a Purified Water on a continual basis just by talking with him, making him a solid companion for Survival Players .
—-> Need Caps? Stop at nearby Abernathy Farm , under the Power Pylon. Grab the 9 Melons, then speak with the daughter Lucy . Keep picking the top dialogue choice about caps as currency. This will trigger an Easy speech check, and she will offer to buy Melons for 5 caps instead of 3. She can buy every Melon you have, on an ongoing basis, which can be lucrative if you turn Sanctuary into a Melon farm. However, if you make the Farm a settlement, she stops buying them.
—-> Survival Players , besides planting Tato , Mutfruit and Corn for Adhesive , plant Razorgrain . Cook 1 Razorgrain /1 Dirty Water to make rad-free Noodle Cups . They lower thirst one level, and hunger half a level. Check wandering vendor Trashcan Carla and Trudy at Drumlin Diner , South of Concord. Or find randomly as loot.
—-> Weapon and Armor modifications can be stripped and swapped onto your better gear. You can remove armor mods for free, but you will have to build a new gun mod from components. Even without Gun Nut, you can build the base level gun mod, which will put the previously attached modification into your inventory, and put onto your new hotness.
—-> Survival Players should build 15 more water supply than they have settlers , minimum. Take out the water from the Workshop every day , and store it separately in another container. New Purified Water will be added every day if there’s little to no water already in the workshop. If you build a large enough water purification operation, a huge amount can get added daily. Use this for your travels, or stockpile, and sell the surplus.
—-> Survival Mode features Diseases , acquired numerous ways. You can take Antibiotics , visit a Doctor , or wait until they go away eventually. Each disease has different durations , lasting from 2-7 days . The most debilitating are Weakness (receive +20% damage), and Infection (take damage over time, though it won’t kill you, will leave you with a sliver of health). These two diseases take 2.5 days to go away. Find something safe to do, like decorating Sanctuary, or sleep it off. Sleeping causes a disease check , so you might get sick again, but anything is better than Weakness or Infection. Early game , when resources are tight, you might be better off saving Antibiotics just in case for the debilitating diseases, and living with the others until they go away.
—->Want to play Survival Mode , but aren’t sure what starting SPECIAL to use? I’ve found the first 10-12 levels to be the hardest, and it’s worth going for strong combat skills first, and then flesh out your build.
Melee Builds , get Rooted (STR9) and Blitz (AGI9) immediately. 9,1,4,3,1,9,1 (Book END) .
VATS Guns get Penetrator (PER9) and Concentrated Fire (PER10). 1,9,3,3,3,7,2 (Book AGI) . You’ll get the Perception Bobblehead when you free Preston, so have a point saved, and put into Concentrated Fire mid-rescue.
—-> Survival Mode players should seriously consider not using Power Armor. Swimming is Survival’s Fast Travel. You’ll get around much faster and safer. Aquaboy/girl perk will save you a ton of time! Without spoiling, the game gives you a quick means of crossing the map as you do the main story, if you dabble with the Brotherhood of Steel .
—-> New Players : Idiot Savant isn’t a good choice for first timers. Enemies scale with you. You need to have good gear to survive, and easy and fast XP can leave you without enough time to explore and find good gear before the bad guys start hitting even harder. You’ll get plenty of levels, faster than you think, even at 1 INT . Growing powerful isn’t only a matter of levels. Having 1 INT will give you plenty of time to find what you need to survive. *You’ll be stronger if you have great gear when you pop your next level*. Take it easy, don’t rush, go slow, and you’ll be better for it.
—-> Pass every speech check with 11 CHR , 100%! Low CHR builds, don’t fret: assemble a 3-piece CHR set of clothes . Hat/glasses/suit , for +4 . Most Alcohol adds +1 . Find Daytripper +3 . Better yet, craft Grape Mentats at a Chemistry Station +5 . There’s other ways, but with these, that’s a +13 buff already.
Bonus! Your companion will come to your side and stay there if you crouch.

A few play throughs back I found out about that chest 12:23. It's not the mole rats its 2 bloat flies nearby, near the trees towards the back of Abernathy farm. If you don't kill them, the chest constantly respawns, along with the wild mutefruit plants. Kill them and the free ride is over.

Fallout 4 keeps surprising me , so many hours in the game all locations cleared tons of stuff and all findable power armors and i still somtimes find some ,, interesting ,, location after watching some yt videos. I know every location from this film except this sunken boat an this switch on pipes near lake, nice job.

10:38- Mole rat den on your left, pair of Charisma boosting sunglasses (next to the skeleton).

Man, that's why i love the Bethesda games (especially Fallout 4, Oblivion and Skyrim), i sat here just waiting for my girlfriend to call me so we can go out for lunch and i clicked on your video to see the hints you would give people and at the beginning of the video i saw two things that i had no idea existed in Sanctuary: that duflebag on the roof and that hiden basement. I honestly had never seen it and i've been playing this game since 2015! lol
Another cool weapon i just discovered this week playing was the Gainer revolver (the game listed it as a pistol), a very powerful .44 that leaves targets on fire, great for the beginning of the game! The weapon is located on the other side of the bank near the Finch farm, inside an access doorthat is visible across the river (the door code is written on the wall, just add 10 in place of the zero in the code for it to open).

05:46 Didn't pick up the leather left leg and leather right leg armor laying on the ground next to the suitcase!
10:00 Didn't visit the duffel bag underneath the statue just at the bridge back to Sanctuary!
11:11 Didn't pick up the Charisma buffing glasses next to the skeleton on the way out of the Mole Rat Den!
11:38 Didn't open the wall safe right next to where you picked up the bobby pin!
12:30 If you follow the river to the left you find an APC with an army helmet. If you have Dogmeat with you, tell him to go pick it up, as it's on top of some radiation barrels.
12:48 Didn't go into Concord for the Speakeasy which has 2x X-cell and 2x daytripper (and a steamer trunk behind an Advanced lockpick door) as well as a decent amount of adhesive in the basement, or the Workhouse which has a duffel bag and an advanced safe.
13:44 Didn't visit Wicked Shipping Fleet Lockup for the key which opens every Wicked Shipping Truck on the map, all of which have steamer trunks!
Also in that location is a duffel bag on a roof that has a decent amount of pre-war money.
14:40 Also inside the Walden Pond sewer pipe is a Barter magazine for better prices with traders!
15:00 Didn't go to Sunshine Tidings to pick up the magazine which gives you extra meat from animal kills (more important in Survival mode but you were right there!)
16:20 Didn't dip into Lexington for the Barter mag inside the Super Duper mart, the 100+ pre-war money in the Bank right over the street or the Barter magazine in the Mystic Pines retirement home!
16:35 Didn't use the other bridge, which has a safe underneath it (and a dead raider)
Other than that, a nice little guide! 😎
