YOU MIGHT NEED TO DISABLE WINDOWS GAME BAR, OR AT LEAST CHANGE THE SHORTCUTS! Just hit the windows key and search for "game bar settings." Click on that and turn it OFF. Here is a picture of that process: i.imgur.com/yQlOB38.png
I figured out the issue with the github repo, it was the readme.md... someone had written one for me a long time ago, but I had recently made a new one.
I didn't properly explain it in the video, but the reason the script uses SC0E8 instead of F12, is because then it would be hitting F12 all the time, which would be bad if you have ANYTHING assigned to F12! Scan code 0E8 is a key that Windows supports, but it does not appear on any keyboard, and isn't used for anything else (that I'm aware of) so it's (very probably) safe to use for this purpose.

I was a little scared because my Windows was screaming "DON'T RUN THIS!" But anyway, it actually worked for me!! I'm a digital artist who uses Photoshop daily and it's so annoying when my alt activates the menu and I hear the dumb Windows 10 error sound. But oh my goodness, it's NO longer an issue for me. Thank you SO much for this. You made my work a lot easier!

Dude, this is a godsend. All too often obscure PC issues like this never have a solution. Photoshop was starting to drive me nuts, always pulling up a menu after every zoom in/out. This finally fixed it! Thank you so much for making this, and even more for sharing this.

This fixes "alt button hell" in photoshop and it'll improve your life so much if you use that program a lot. In PS, if you tap alt meaning to do something like subtract from a selection, and you change your mind, the upper menus are now active. Any keyboard shortcut you try will either launch a command from the upper menu, or give an obnoxious error sound. You can't escape out of it, you have to click somewhere or just choose a menu option even though you don't really want to. With this applet, tapping alt doesn't trap you in the menuing system, it's only active for as long as you're pressing it. Thank you so much for this.

In Github you write about the Game Bar plopping up, which happened to me too and I could not get rid of it untill I simply went to:
Start -> "Gaming" -> Game bar -> change literally the first"Your Shortcut" to anything.
So far no Game bar plopping up again. nice. You have probably figured this out a long time ago but here it is anyways.
