The deep sea appears barren, lifeless, and silent. The lonely expanse rolls out into a long horizon, while the great abyss plummets ever-downwards into darkness. Communities of life are solitary. They seem isolated from other habitats in the deep. But there is more going on here. The exact nature of the deep sea food web is still not fully understood, but advancements in technology and research in recent years have granted us a greater understanding of how these separate settlements of life are interconnected as one. Let’s take a closer look at the food web of the deep sea.

Lots of incredible shots, but I think 7:01 is my favorite. I don't know how you always find the perfect music for these either, but you do.

Hey! I am a oceanography student writing my master thesis about deep-sea octopods. Whenever I feel demotivated in between, I watch one of your deep-sea videos and get inspired again. Great work, thank you!

this channel is so amazing — not only are there a ton of videos but they’re all so well made that this feels like YouTube premium or something .. it’s difficult to impress me, but the narration is so captivating and the music choices are always so well fit ?? the detail that goes into each and every one of these videos is just stunning, don’t let anyone who doesn’t enjoy them bog you down at all cos they’re stunning (even though I appreciate your openness to criticism) 😁😁

This is so interesting! I never thought about it before, but it makes sense that the lack of sunlight has led organisms to adapt to other means of producing nutrients. Nature is amazing!

4:46 You can just barely see me and my friend in the background. We were invited to this shoot and got to stand in the background and watch. We even got to meet some of the shrimp and got autographs. They were really down to earth!
