I’d take a new world class stadium over a redevelopment, all sentimentally aside,it’s really a once in a lifetime opportunity, owners come and go,a new stadium would be something to lift the city,it’s not as if St,James’Park has been a lucky place! As long as there’s silverware I’m not bothered where they play !

I love St James's but To be sincere the extra seating is only going to accommodate a small percentage of fans who want a season ticket,,add that to the inconvenience and lower crowds while work takes place then I dont see this as a good option. Im surprised such good business minded owners are entertaining this idea.

Redevelop to get an extra 8000 to 13000 capacity? Not great or visionary really.
We could fill SJP currently with an extra 30000.
So developing the only stand we can (Gallowgate End) leaving us with a lopsided ground (3 large sides instead of current 2) with the diddy east stand - unable to develop thanks to grade 1 Leazes Terrace.
Don’t forget, we don’t even own the current SJP land (we rent it off the council).
If the report is true then - Total wasted opportunity to build a world class 80000 Wembley of the North. Watching SJP ‘develop’ since 1975, it’s been a series of compromises. The latest news may yet be another one.

Whilst delighted that we stay in this location, the site is so compromised. If we can't rotate/push up into the park a bit then we're only ever going to be able to add a few thousand seats. Long-term we need a new state-of-the-art 70,000+ stadium on this site. Can we build around the current one like Spurs did?

8000 seats average £50 a seat x 19 home games is an extra 7.6 million a season in revenue. looking forward to seeing what sort of plans they are going to put forward as its the best of both worlds. i dont think anyone REALLY wanted to move but feel everyone can see the demand is there for more capacity. i do agree with some of the comments that an extra 8000 seat isnt going to touch the demand

I’d rather have a new stadium 70k plus with a roof and built for the future. Rather than putting more extensions on it , the same people who want it to stay better not complain if they can’t have a ticket for 4 to 5 years and their is thousands less every game , a new stadium was the way to go to put Newcastle on the level we want to be and have a world winning stadium that hold concerts and world cups and rugby ect we could generate so much more money and have it all , for me it’s a set back and Iv been going to st James park for over 40
years , so please don’t complain if you loose your season ticket for a few years as someone has to , that’s the reality of staying for 8k more maybe 10k , leazers park was the way to go half build and build it bigger and better , the council would of done it with the money it could of blackmailed out of the club and how much it would then generate for all the other events,

I really hope it’s closer to 70000 than 60000
