This album was the first real music I found while in the hospital detoxing from an almost decade long heroin addiction. I never felt more alive listening to this album when I finally got out of the hospital and sober. What a God send for Kevin Parker to be my first discovery in stepping back out into the world again.

âMatty said life didnât go the way that he planned it, said oh what iâd give to start over, boy I command it!â That hit home. Life is a game with no restart button. We learn through mistakes, have to face harsh realities, and never get the same moment twice. If youâre reading this you are going to be who youâre meant to be its all about letting go and detaching from a specific outcome

Lyrics
When we were living in squalor,
Wasn't it heaven?
Back when we used to get on it
Four outta seven
Now even though that was a time I
Hated from day one
Eventually, terrible memories
Turn into great ones
So if they call you
Embrace them
If they hold you
Erase them
'Cause it might have been something, who's to say?
Does it help to get lost in yesterday?
And you mighta missed something, don't say
'Cause it has to be lost in yesterday
And you're gonna have to let it go someday
You've been digging it up like Groundhog Day
'Cause it might have been something, don't say
'Cause it has to be lost in yesterday
Matty said life didn't go the
Way that he planned it
Said, "Oh, what I'd give to start over
Boy, I'd command it"
So what was I ever afraid of,
Why did I worry?
And why was I ever so brainless?
Head in a flurry
'Cause if they call you
Embrace them
If they stall you
Erase them
'Cause it might have been something, who's to say?
Does it help to get lost in yesterday?
And you mighta missed something, don't say
'Cause it has to be lost in yesterday
And you're gonna have to let it go someday
You've been digging it up like Groundhog Day
'Cause it might have been something, don't say
'Cause it has to stay lost in yesterday
So if it calls you
Embrace it
If it haunts you
Face it
I know it's mad
I understand
It's only snakes
And ladders
The period
You never had
There's only one
That matters
And if it calls you
Embrace it
If it holds you
Erase it (replace it)
Thnx for the likes =)

I love how every time the shot repeats the wedding gets better and better, essentially proving the line, âeventually terrible memories turn into great ones,â making this whole thing feel like a terrible memory being remembered over and over to where all the flaws are erased, until the terrible ending.

This blend of psychedelic, indie, and electronic elements is so unique and on point. It's like they're creating the sound of now while nodding to the musical greats of the past. I'd recommend checking out a band from New Zealand called The Doublejumps for people who like this style. We need more artists who can tap into our collective feelings and create that unmistakable connection âđ

I am ready to assign this video to my student as a film literature assignment.
I think the first pass is the "actual" event/memory (wedding). Each successive pass is the revised memories of some of the guests: nicer clothes, elegant style, appearances that indicate successes in life: the father figure at the cake table goes from sullen to joyful, the bridesmaid pairs with the guy mouthing "I love you" to the bride(?), the couple at the bar go from contempt to engaged; the guy at the end of the bar becomes a sailor; the band goes from reel to reel to live musicians; the woman on the phone goes from sad to happily hugging a man; the wheelchair-bound man goes from chair, to walker, to standing; the food tables, decorations, the mother figure and the wedded couple become idealized.
The final scene may represent how the bride and some attendants at the wedding feel about the original memory: what ties them together is the bride and the mother figure, who are both represented the same as in the first scene. The bride's real contempt for the original situation is revealed ("... that was time that I hated from day one/eventually terrible memories turn into great ones...")("The period, you never had/There's only one that matters"). The mother figure snatching the champagne glass out of the idealized version of her signifies her disappointment and contempt of how she was/has been portrayed/remembered.
All of the characters remember and for some of them the memories were distorted in ways that may have been difficult for some of them to face.
