God gave us a brain to use and reason with. We all have to follow our conscience instead of just blindly following dogmas that we don't believe in or don't make sense. There is nothing wrong with being a good person or with being happy. I am sure that God wants that. May the peace of the Lord be with all of you. (I don't want to argue with anyone.) All the best.

im 22 and currently a seventh day adventist (although I am not baptized) and inquiring into catholicism and eastern orthodoxy. it is so immensely refreshing to see a catholic speaking about things as it should be, thus drawing me somewhat towards catholicism. I decided to put God first, but truly first. No regrets. I wish everyone could feel what it's like to live in that peace. I cry often from pure gratitude for what He has done in my life since I fully surrendered it to Him and His service in my work and at my Parish. It's worth every apparent sacrifice.
