English speakers/learners! Put your old-to-middle English hats on. German is a great history lesson for our own language --- and many similar words therein are still used in contexts like everyday speech, storytelling, and legal documents:
damit - therewith
dafür - therefor (not to be confused with therefore; see below)
daher - therefore
danach - thereafter - You may play outside thereafter. (after that, where "that" is your German homework)
darauf - thereupon - I reviewed your German homework and thereupon decided you may now play outside.
darin - therein - Therein ("in it") lies an opportunity to grow your career.
dabei/dadurch - thereby
...
Although not all are 1:1 translations, these really helped me jump into "German mode."
