OMG!!! I've been asking if there is a "Country note" like there is a "Blues note" forever.Ā  Now I find out it IS the blue note when played major scale over the same major chord progression.Ā  All makes sense, Holy Cow!Ā Tried this on my looper and it sounds ultra country.Ā Thanks guys!!

Thanks guys! Love to see you working together. Your mission to transform youtube guitar lessons is noticeable. You guys and Marty are pretty much all I watch with maybe a little Steve Stein and Ben Eller thrown in for the thrash effect. I really appreciate all that you guys do. Seriously. You guys make lessons fun and in the past two months I've been watching, my skills/understanding have increased leaps and bounds. Big thanks!

Youā€™re both very good, and Iā€™ve learned a lot from each of you. Especially helpful, to me, are your different approachs to music theory that helps to demystify the way music works. Thanks both

Unreal. I love the idea of the adding the 9th to get the jazzy sound which you taught me earlier but this is eye opening. I love this sound!

Wow. That bluegrass solo sounded great. Also - so that's what bluegrass is! Great video, guys. Lots of fun. Good chemistry between you.

This is such a majorly important lesson, especially for beginners! I remember when I finally put two and two together and figured this out. Thanks for another relevant lesson!

The scale works because in the blues progression has the flat 7th in the E7 Chord which helps to "soften" the harshness of this major/minor 3rd clash. In the country version, the E minor blues scale is the relative minor of Gmaj, just with the blue notes added for extra "soul" but you can really only use those as passing notes unless you like sustained dissonance.

Made it this far through the series and had to take a mind blow break. Fantastic series that is going to progress me from a guy who memorized a few tunes, to a guy who actually knows how to play! Huge thanks!
