EMERGENCY HAUL-OUT: Things go from bad to worse.... (Episode 258)

After having the deck of the bow rip clean off the hull, things go from bad to worse as we develop a very concerning knocking noise inside the Saildrive. It's so bad that we end up having to do an emergency haul out....

SV Parlay is a hurricane damaged Lagoon 450 catamaran, which Colin rebuilt with friends and has started sailing around the world. We found bulkhead damage on their catamaran in Panama, so have fixed her up, and are now sailing across the Pacific Ocean!!

That prop removal underwater was impressive, and managing to film it at the same time without losing anything!

Ay Yi Yi! We miss you, Jamie. Although the chosen one is doing a bang-up job, he might be tripping on CLR. 🌈 Ollie and Tori, good on you for the saildrive road trip. Thank you, Grant, for gifting the saildrive to Parlay. I appreciate Parlay for providing Sunday morning antics. Ay Yi Yi!

Yanmar makes a kit for sd50 to sd60. It has a massive adapter plate. Keep in mind the sd60 is a few inches longer than sd50. So the adapter kit does all the hard work for you. Even the bolt pattern will line up properly. I have a lagoon 440 and just did this a few months ago. If yanmar doesn't help, reach out to yanmar service centers and they can source the right parts for you. Yanmar itself won't ship you anything. You have to go thru their distributors, who then sell to the service centers. But you can get it FAST this way. Mine took 2 days to ship from Florida to chesapeake over a national holiday!

Colin's knowledge and skills are saving him tens of thousands of dollars! How wonderful, in all the misery of this cursed boat.

Colin, the situation may seem worse but if anyone can manage to improve the situation, it is you. Therefore the situation is just an inconvenience. You've dominated every large and small broken issue over the years and it has been extremely satisfying to watch how you break down the tasks to systematically rectify the problems this boat throws at you! Parts have failed, Lagoon 450 design has failed but nothing has stopped you as you improve, strengthen and repair your beautiful Jamie 465! You got this brother! Thanks for bringing us along for the ride!

Colin you are a master in the art of hand talking! It’s actually a very compelling piece of your content. I don’t know if this is something you’ve worked on but I’ve taken note!😂

I never thought I'd ever be so fascinated by mechanical boat repairs. Your knowledge and expertise is impressive. And the respect and gratitude you have with your crew and boatyard helpers is a lesson to all on how to lead a good life.
