This is a great opportunity - even for cavers. The descent of Gaping Gill is often taken as being the start of caving in the UK, so this is quite a historical spot. The first time I went down the winch I got out of the seat, turned around, and discovered a rather large rocket had been placed in the cave by a 'rival' club. They are a strange lot in Derbyshire 🙂I should add that the rocket was subsequently removed from the cave.

What a great service these cavers are providing. There is something about these pot holes that go straight down that get to me. I don't know what it is. My favorite cave covered on this channel so far is Eldon Hole.

What a cool location. I'm not one for heights either - and that cage elevator lift might be a bit much for me, but quite the pay off if it could be done. And really nice audio on the intro in cave.

Hi Elise, just a quick correction: members of the public aren't allowed to camp by the entrance in order to secure a place in the queue, camping is reserved for members of the Bradford Pothole Club in order to work and keep the winch running. Members of the public will have to set off up Ingleborough early in the morning, unless they know a member of the BPC and are invited to camp as a guest.
