Welcome to ā€œatomsā€: tiny pieces of music inspired by tiny and beautiful things! When I see something striking, Iā€™ll film it, then write a short piece of new music for that moment. Tiny film scores, if you will. Basically, I want to musically follow Mary Oliverā€™s beautiful ā€œinstructions for living a life: pay attention. be astonished. tell about it.ā€

Each ā€œatomā€ song and video is/will be roughly 1 minute in length, which compliments our social media digital worlds (and short attention spans) and will be released spontaneously! First as posts on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc. Shortly after, each ā€œatomā€ will be widely available on Spotify, Apple Music, etc.

In the same way that seeing something beautiful in the middle of my day feels kind of like an oasis, a tiny chance to catch my breath, the hope for ā€œatomsā€ is to offer up that same meditative feeling in your Insta timeline or TikTok feed, or in the middle of your next ā€œdoom scrollā€ ..or when youā€™re way deep down a YouTube rabbit hole.

Because real-life atoms become molecules, once a handful of my ā€œatomsā€ are released into the wild, Iā€™ll do occasional ā€œMolecule Sessionsā€, in which I will choose a few ā€œatomsā€ (perhaps with your help?!) and expand on them, transforming them into something different! Iā€™m very excited about what these tiny pieces of music may become!

This is "atom 6" and is set to footage of the pacific ocean pushing golden sand around on a beach in California. If you listen close, you can hear the waves and my kids running around and giggling.

Listen to all of my "atoms" here! fanlink.to/ATOMS

The "flutter" the instruments do to reflect the ripple texture of the water is such a gorgeous and unique sound. These "atoms", short as they are, are just so brimming with inspiration and wonder... thank you so much for each and every one of them.

Really pretty melody! The water ebbing and flowing over the sand matched it so well.šŸ˜Š

Yet again, another gorgeous song and visual to go with it. I look forward to the releases of these songs and I love how they're not on a told schedule, but instead just sent out into the world at whatever moment the inspiration strikes. You're truly sharing something beautiful with the world. Thank you :) edit:thanks for the likes :)

Sleeping at last.. the songs you make have so much story to them. Most don't have lyrics, but you can still tell a story through music, it's wonderful how you tell story's and bring people together with your music. I can't wait to see more astronomy related songs to the events that happen. Edit: those who can tell stories without lyrics, we need more because these are just as beautiful

This atom gives me a sort of floating feeling, just a calm sweetness of the melody. I've kinda needed this with how hectic my mind has been, just something to relax, to calm, and to float to. Thanks Ryan

This feels like the first time you see the ocean as a kid. You step out into the sand and it warms the soles of your feet as you take in the vast horizon before you. It looks surreal as your senses are flooded. The smells of briney water and sunscreen, the warm sun kissing your skin, the seagulls calling as they sweep over you in passes and the sound of waves spilling over the beach. The first steps toward the water are tenuous; the frothy wave creeps up to your toes and you delight in how your feet can make ephemeral impressions in the wet sand. Suddenly, the water splashes against you with momentous force knocking you back, only to tug at you to invite you forward once more. What a joyful discovery! Thank you, Ryan. Each 'atom' you've created is beautiful, and reminds me of some sacred aspect of life which is cherished.
