Iā€™m 65. My financial advice is donā€™t spend money trying to keep up with others. Forget them and be frugal. And my most import advice is about personal relationships. Pay attention to red flags in people and walk away forever if you see red flags. Doesnā€™t matter if they are a blood family member, a friend, a spouse or life mate. No, Iā€™m not suggesting walking away if someone is imperfect. Weā€™re all human. But we all know what true red flags are. People donā€™t change. Love yourself enough to walk away from anyone who arenā€™t treating you as they should.

"Never get married" isn't bad advice. I don't regret doing it because my daughter came out of it, but marriage to the wrong person can definitely be hell.

I have one advice : Please surround yourself with good people. When you realise someone is expoloiting you emotionally, spiritually, financially cut them away does not matter who they are to you. Life is already really difficulty do not let people you surround yourself with become another warzone. If you do not find good people be alone. Involvement with wrong people willl ruin your peace, money, health and youth. Be brave enough to distance yourself and say no ,fight for your happiness and peace.

The single guy says he didnā€™t have kids but lord knows how many kids he impacted as a teacher with his compassion. Great advice from them all ā¤

It's easy to say "money's not important"...when you have money. Money is VERY important. It gives you power, freedom, options.

When people show you who they are, believe them. Itā€™s not your job to ā€œfixā€ them, thatā€™s on them.

Iā€™m 71 years oldā€¦never married, no kidsā€¦ no big regretsā€¦best thing I ever did was save and invest 20% of my gross income since I was 24 years oldā€¦ I have good health and can travel and do anything I want nowā€¦.

Money doesnā€™t buy happiness but it removes life taking stress and gives you security and the option to create happiness

Donā€™t depend on others for security/happiness. Be happy and secure in your own company

I am 78 years old. My advice is to always be kind to everyone. You never know what a person is going through or has gone through. Above all love Jesus and live for Him.

That Pennsylvania Dutch proverb is right: "We grow old too soon and wise too late". These people are living proof of it.

I'm just like that retired teacher sitting on that bench in the sense that I wholeheartedly believe that you shouldn't take on more responsibilities than you want to. Don't do stuff to keep up with others, or to please your parents, etc., but do what you want to do. Life is too short to live someone else's life.

Don't feel the need to have tons of friends. Appreciate Yourself. It is far easier than getting others to appreciate you! Be comfortable with yourself and your lifestyle (unless you are hurting others). Do not need the approval of others.

I agree 100% with the guy who said don't make self-destructive decisions. Lots of people do, especially when they are young, and it is disastrous!

I like the way the school teacher thinks. He seems like a very genuine and relaxed person. Keeping up with people is so pretentious and leads to more unhappiness

ā€œInvest into yourselfā€ is the biggest gem I took from this! ā€¦ you have to look out for you at the end of the day and realize no one is coming to save you or give you anything. You have to be passionate and consistent in whatever it is youā€™re pursuing. šŸ™šŸ¾

I retired at 57, 6+ years ago. A key message I would communicate to others is don't delay retirement if you have the financial wherewithal to do so. Too often I have seen many people delay retirement and then experience health issues which constrain the very things they wanted to do post-retirement. Moreover, the most significant benefit of retirement for me is that I no longer have to deal with people I do not want to. That has proved to be the ultimate blessing.
