When i was mad at my parents when i was little, my version of running away was packing up my favorite toys in a backpack and going outside on the porch. I would stay out there until i got hungry and would awkwardly walk inside and apologize and ask for food.

I ran away at 21, still feel bad almost a tear and a half later. I came back after just about a week (i had no way if getting home cuz i went to another state). I am so glad my family accepted the apology. I know people might say "but you are an adult, it's not the same". But i hurt my mom by leaving without saying goodbye or anything. I am so glad all's forgiven. But i learned a lesson to never do that again. Especially because the reason was not even a good one because it was an unfounded fear. I was so scared to come out i ran away to my now ex-girlfriend's place. I am glad i realized quickly i messed up, and I've definitely done much better since. But speaking from experience, it only hurts all involved. Can't imagine it happening when you're a kid and have less survival skills and logic about what to do
