Not a bad option if you're on a budget and have a place to charge at home.

I just got a Chevy Bolt EUV for under $20k before taxes/registration with just the federal tax credit in California. Has a few options too, including heated seats/steering wheel and blindspot monitoring.

We have had one for 2 years, great car for round town. No good for road tripping more than one fast charger stop (300km) max trip. We charge on solar (free) and it is a great vehicle for cheap

Not for everyone but great price and if you need a commuter this is an option. With a warranty

Really good and reliable car for most of our city driving. If it can be purchased so cheap it is no brainer.

I have a leaf and honestly I love it, it’s perfect for in town use

Honestly in the used market these things are great values. I just bought a 2021 S Plus for $13k used w/ 8.8k miles private party.

We owned a used 2015 leaf for 5 years. We loved it. I traded it in for a new bolt which is a much better car. I wouldn't recommend the leaf if you are going to take it road tripping. But if like us you need a 2nd car as a reliable and affordable around town car, than the leaf could be a great option.

It's a great car for the money, if you actually know anything about EVs (which many commenters here obviously don't) it's hard to argue that it's not a high value proposition. Sure the battery is passively cooled and it doesn't have 300 mile range, but most people don't need either of those and paying more for them aka a Model Y is wasting that money. If you need a roadtrip car don't get it, if it's a second car in a household it's almost unbeatable.

Great video Andre. Nice shades, what are they? :)

Do not get this. Get the Chevy Bolt instead as that has proper battery temperature management/cooling. Due to the Leaf's battery being air-cooled they run very hot and degrade 2-4x faster than most other EVs. The Bolt's battery should last 2-4x longer before it needs replaced.

The sticker price for this in the Canadian market higher. When converting for currencies, the base model is $37,516 USD for our country.

I'm reading the comments here about used EV's and just read a news article that states MotorTrend is going to get into the online used car market. They also say that 10% of interest for used cars is in EV's and hybrids. I would like to see a couple of reviews from TFLEV on high mileage vehicles of this type. I don't mean for TFLEV to buy them but looking for honest evaluations of them from a media source I trust. You TFLEV. Thanks

Get NACS charging and thermal management on the battery and I'd consider it. The rest is fine for an around the town vehicle. I don't care about massive range for that purpose but I do want to have the option of fast charging when I need it.

149 miles of claimed range. If it’s cold, or you use the heat or the A/C, or if you go uphill, you’ll get <100 miles then have to slow-charge it all night. (Fewer miles as it ages.) Maybe that’s why they are not selling. This is a car for very specific use cases, not mass appeal.

I got one used for $18k with 15k miles. 2023. Where I live there are no incentives other than not paying taxes for the purchase of new EVs. My experience has been great so far. I don’t need fast charge since I only drive no more than 70 miles daily. Charge at home and repeat. For longer trips I would probably not use this.

0:56 the leaf isn't bad, it's just got innards the are out of standard or out of date. but a little birdy told me a sedan (hatchback really) is coming to replace it. so long as the price is kept reasonable, it should be good.

The responses in the thread are typical. People complaining that everything is too expensive but then when a budget version is offered they complain it doesn't have all the features of the high priced models.

Chevy bolt all the way. Especially if you're in Colorado, you'd get $15,000 off the purchase price of the Bolt.

If you spend most of your driving time just commuting to work in town this car would be just fine, especially at this price. If you do an occasional long rip then rent an ICE car for that trip. The amount of savings you are getting by purchasing this vehicle and not having to pay for gas will more than offset the car rental for the occasional long distance trip you may drive.
