I love seeing old NYC in action 🎬..... When New York was bustling with blue-collar workers. When there was flop-houses, and 19th century tennaments* housing little families with tons of kids. When 3rd AVE still had an elevated. People chewed out each other with a needling vengeance. The streets were hungry for energy, but they gave some to everyone who would tap out they're toon: "New York - New York" but it was a few ten years too early for "big city of dreams, might get fooled if ya' come from outta town, but... < too much, too many people too much....." {Grand Master Flash} No this was about 30 years before Invention of Rap-Music in the South Bronx. It was the late 1940s and the upper east side elevated train 🚆 looked like something from before the 1920's antiquated but charming streetcars. Looking much like dark and ghostly versions of San Francisco trolleys 🚎....
For me as a previous resident of the grand metropolis I'd have to say that was the pinnacle era, the apex for the city that never sleeps 💤 and the people all tried to fit in, the new arrivals.
They were all now new-Americans and more importantly the new immigrants were now
New Yorkers...
