I'm your host, Darren Van Dam!

Tired of looking for good movies to watch on Netflix, Amazon Prime or other streaming services? Every week I recommend a handful of the best movies on Netflix, Amazon, HBO etc. so my subscribers never run out of good movies to watch on streaming. Spending 10 minutes watching one of my videos could save you hours of searching, hours that you could otherwise spend watching good movies on streaming that you otherwise might not have ever watched or even known about.

Thanks for watching!

Prospect is amazing and terribly underrated. The fact that they shot it for something like $1m is inspiring.

ok, the thing about King Arthur is that the entire blame for its failure at the box office can be put on the marketing team. all the trailers showed it as a grounded bio-pic of the life of Arthur before and after pulling the sword with absolutely no mention of the fantasy elements of it whatsoever. so the people looking for that grounded story were let down and said it was bad and the people that would have wanted to see some high fantasy action (me) passed on it. I saw it months later only because a friend of mine was watching it and I thought it was awesome.

Prospect was amazing. It contains some of the most meticulous dialog I've ever seen. The speech patterns and words used are all mid 19th century America. It creates this feeling of familiarity and strangeness at the same time.

Definitely agree with many of your choices here. So I will be checking out the few I haven't seen yet.

Great list. I've already been watching some of these. Also, I couldn't agree more about the Legend of the Guardians, and Outlander. I found these years ago, and they are top notch. True hidden gems.

Love your channel! I'm an offshore sailing instructor. I don't expect your average layperson to understand that "All is Lost" is an infuriatingly stupid movie where he does absolutely every thing wrong from a sailing and safety perspective. After watching it the first time, I had PTSD, but powered through it to record 93 things he did wrong, which anyone who is sailing offshore should know. Sorry, just had to vent...

That was an excellent FLICK CONNECTION, Darren. I have always loved Twilight Zone: The Movie as I grew up with The Twilight Zone when on TV. Many thanks for sharing with us 💎💎💎

Lone Star is a really great film.......and the ending, with the "Oh well, why rock the boat" thing is lovely.

I've actually viewed several titles on YT for the very first time over the years, some of them REALLY OLD and other more recent titles which were uploaded on certain channels where I could watch them for free! Just to name a few: - Deluge (1933) - The Egyptian (1954) - Krakatoa: East of Java (1969) - Waterloo (1970) - Shivers (1974) - Rabid (1977) - Meteor (1979) - Gettysburg (1993) - Anastasia (1997) - The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc (1999)

Great list! Maybe the best you have made. The movies I've seen I loved, but several I haven't seen so added them to my movie bucket list.

I also found 3 out of the movies that are in my top 5 of all time for free on YouTube! Blood In Blood Out, Trick or Treat (the 80s one) and Sid and Nancy. I’m not promising great quality, but they’re all free and all three of them are so under appreciated when they are so so dear to my heart 💜

An interesting little factoid not mentioned is that Outlander is obviously based on Beowulf. Which is why, even as a SF variant of the classic epic, it freaking rocks. John Hurt as the Viking chieftain and Sofia Myles are also really good in it. Thanks for the list though. I'll have to check out some of these movies.

Outlander was pretty darn cool. Totally forgot about it until you mentioned it here.
