I feel like in Moving Out when the end doesn’t have any lyrics, to me it gives the vibe of when you’re finally all packed up and officially saying goodbye to the house and you’re just kind of quietly looking around taking it all in for the last time.

“Cardinal” is about Kacey losing a friend, but then seeing a cardinal, as it could represent her recently lost friend giving her a sign from Heaven. Cardinals are known to be a representation of a dead person from Heaven.
The northern cardinal, known colloquially as just cardinal, is a red songbird that often holds a special meaning, evoking emotional and spiritual feelings. Some say the vibrant red bird is an uplifting, happy sign; a symbol of passed loved ones.
The friend in question here is John Prine, american country and folk music legend, he passed away in 2020 due to COVID-19.
And in the bridge of this song she says “are you just watching and waiting for spring (pretty bird)” so I’m pretty sure she’s referring to the red bird.

I loved this album so much that i spent 6 hours with it on repeat while i worked the day it came out it brought me so much peace and comfort that i just could not stop listening to it! Definitely felt the same way as you guys about her music. I discovered her with Golden Hour and as a country lover i went back and listened to her previous albums and LOOOOVED them so much! But i didn’t really resonate with star-crossed which made me sad but im so glad and so relieved that she pulled me right back with this one! Loved the reacion so much thank you for posting it!
