Hey everyone this is Kayla, Brett’s cousin. This video was posted a month ago, we filmed this 2 years ago. As of right now everything is going good as it can be. Thank you for everyone that has reached out and checked in on us.

I love how the families are always like, “I don’t know why they’re an addict.” Then you hear the story of how they grew up and you’re like, how could they not have become an addict? I’m speaking from personal experience.

The mom is so mean to Brett, their grandmother passed away recently, Kaylas little boy has cancer, this family has been through so much 😭

Really breaks my heart to see how Brett’s mom treats him. I think that underneath the drug problem, Brett is a good dude, he just fell into a huge hole of addiction due to the environment he’s in which is very toxic, that could have happened to anybody, nobody is invincible. I just hope and pray that Brett does get better.

The mom also walked out on him. She physically didnt do it like his father did, but emotionally she dropped the ball hard. She seriously needed her own intervention.

When his mom told him to shut up, my heart broke. The look on his face was both confusion and heart break. Poor kid, I really hope he turns his life around and betters himself. He deserves it.

Add sad as Brett's condition is, I honestly feel worse for his grandparents. What an awful situation to have to be in and deal with at their ages.

I genuinely wouldn’t be alive right now to watch this and comment if my mom had taken that kind of approach with me. Forever grateful she never gave up on me. She never judged me. She never once complained. She slept next to me to make sure I didn’t stop breathing.

I have zero sympathy for mom. She knows she’s partially responsible for his trauma and she’s in denial. She needs to take responsibility and help herself and her son.

My heart broke when his mother told him he looks tired and needed sleep. Brett tried to say that he was overwhelmed and stressed and his mother's response was "Shut up, Brett". Poor kid is trying to express his feelings... :(

Seeing him cry broke my heart. He’s the same age as me and looks a lot like my closest friend did a few years ago. I really hope he manages to get help again. He seems like a good person who needs a lot of help.

The fact that the mother just shuts down when her child needs her is flat out sickening. And he loves his mom unconditionally, but she has emotionally checked out 😔

This is so sad..I remember crying my entire way to rehab and I thought my life was over. But it has just started. I'm now 3 and a half years sober. I hope this young man can get clean and stay that way.

Struggling with multiple addictions myself and this really hit home.... I hope you got the help you need Brett. 🙏

Physically forcing someone into a van for treatment will NEVER work. That’s why he didn’t finish rehab. He didn’t wanna go. He’s gotta make that decision for himself and I hope he does. 🙏🏼

As an addict in recovery, I seriously think the mother had some addiction issues of her own. Her movements/mannerisms are very indicative of substance abuse.
