Miley Cyrus starred as Hannah Montana in the most popular Disney Channel show in history. Getting the role was her biggest dream and is the reason why we all know her today. However she did not own her name "Miley Cyrus." This made me question her "wild phase," in 2012 -2014 and if it was a business move or simply her trying to escape her past.

“Miley probably had a hard time trying to balance schoolwork and acting. If she had grammarly, her workflow would’ve been way more efficient” I died.

I would also like to highlight that Billy was always there for Miley and throughout the “phase” he never tried to take her down. He clearly understood what she was doing and when reporters were trying to get him to say he was disappointed or something, he merely said Miley was expressing herself and finding her musical identity. Exactly what she did

I just remember how everyone hated Miley for her rebel faze but now we praise her for what she did and she’s an even bigger A list celebrity now. Especially how we’ve learned just how toxic Disney is with kids and the contracts. Props to her for real.

She had to break the kid-friendly Disney image if she ever wanted to be allowed to do her own thing. People judged the absolute sh*t outta her for it, but it was brilliant & worked perfectly

I loved it when they asked Paul McCartney about her "scandalous behaviour" and he went "pff it's pretty mild stuff, I don't understand why people are so upset"

I think the legal name change was more like Disney owning the name Miley Cyrus, so she couldn't release or perform anything under that name independantly, or not produced by Disney. Then Miley Cyrus was her legal name. The loophole is you are free to use your actual name in any terms you wish. It's your name, so can you create material or perform under it; no-one can say you can't identify using your legal name.

You’ve just humanised Miley’s journey♥️. All this time we were lead to believe she was going crazy and unruly, in reality she was breaking free and untangling herself from Disney. Thank you for this♥️.

she's lucky she had a mother who cared and a father who knew the industry tricks. there are so many child stars who didn't have that kind of support and her family is definitely a major part of the reason she was able to come out of the "controversial" phase with an intact reputation. (unlike say, Amanda Bynes) good foundation, good for her.

She's really lucky that she's one of the few to get out of Disney's clutches, they tried to own her name, image and her whole identity. That whole "wild phase" was so smart, it was the perfect decision for her, so the world would stop associating her with the identity that Disney created.

Man the respect I have for her is immense. Rewatching that 2013 VMA performance now, you can just see the absolute precision of calculation that went in to all of it. Good for her. Down with disney!

Disney owes her a HUGE PAYCHECK. I was in love with Hannah Montana when i was a kid. To hear that one of my favorite childhood/teenage actresses were paid so low is shocking and pisses me off. She should have been getting atleast $150k per episode. WTF DISNEY!

I always had a feeling that her phase when she went "wild" was planned because unlike other child stars that went crazy as an adult Miley never spiraled out of control. She simply rebranded so she can be who she actually is as an person and not be under that pressure of working under a shady company that forces their actors and actresses to be role models to children

I used to make fun of her when she did the whole "we cant stop" thing. but later on, I knew she was trying to generate publicity and be "out there". she truly is a smart person for what she's done. how else would she have broken the chains of disney. Art is subjective I may not like any of her songs, but that doesn't mean her work isn't valid. so for any of yall who say what she does is gross or degenerate, at least she's doing what's she likes.

i think the reason miley didn’t have a mental breakdown like other child stars is because she understood what was happening to her, she knew she was having an identity crisis from growing up as a character. this happens to many child stars but they don’t rationalise it in the same way miley did, when she speaks in that interview she acknowledges what happened to her. other former child stars can just be unhappy and confused and don’t know why because everyone around them is still in their head. miley is a strong intelligent person to be able to have things not go that way for her

I didn't really know much about her until my wife had started watching The Voice in the room with me, while she was a host. She is very articulate and smart.
