Whenever I see this band play (3 times now) I feel like 'this is how excited people must have felt the first time The Smiths played live (or Kate Bush, or Joy Division or any number of other iconic artists/bands). There is such a wonderful mash-up of multiple different flavours - Abba, Kate Bush, the literary/poetic feel of it all (which remind me a little of what Pete Doherty did with The Libertines/Babyshambles), the playful, Dickensian, punk energy of Abigail in live shows - I love the whole thing! I was hooked from the first time I saw the video for Nothing Matters š¤© Am booked for the Roundhouse!

Came across this band purely by chance, but I'm so glad I've discovered them, sometimes you get grabbed by something that just resonates with you and The Last Dinner Party does that with me.
Listened to the whole album on the train home yesterday and i was completely captivated by it, just pure and beautiful music

Itās 2023 and Iām a middle aged fart who enjoyed all the next big thing explosions in the 1990ās but had become a tad jaded by the 21st century waiting for great bands with style (in short I thought there were none) but along come The Last Dinner Party - everything Iāve heard from them sounds fantastic- the elegance and style are right there and suddenly I can believe again.
If thereās any justice 2024 will belong to them .

There's some great audience interaction at the NY gig, including a lovely moment when Aurora lets somebody play her portable piano thingy towards the end of My Lady of Mercy. Emily could barely play she was laughing so much. These ladies instinctively know the right thing to do. They really are very special.

This is going to be my favorite debut album in so fucking long. TLDP is everything I want right now, aesthetically & musically.
