I should point out the biggest reason the "Abortion Theory" doesn't work actually lies outside of the game itself. EarthBound is actually part 2 of the EarthBound/Mother trilogy and Giygas is actually in the first game as well, in fact most of the game's lore involves his backstory of how he was an alien raised by an abducted human couple. He is also a grey alien more in-line with the classic sci-fi depiction of extra terrestrials rather than the red abomination we see in EarthBound. According to the games' lore, sometime between Mother 1 and EarthBound/Mother 2 Giygas gains the ability to time travel (or phase distortion as it is referred to in the series) and gains an occult status among his race and others across the universe having many worship him as a deity due to his incredible psychic powers. However, in the world of the EarthBound/Mother series time traveling causes organic materials to deteriorate, eventually Giygas' body and mind are destroyed due to his excessive use of phase distortion. Whether he does this on purpose or not is also questionable as he has things he may want to forget that I won't spoil here should you choose to play Mother 1.
TLDR; Giygas already lived a full life before what we see of him in EarthBound, so he can't physically be a fetus.
Also many people get this wrong. Ness and his friends go back in time to fight Giygas because he attacks the Earth from this point in time (i.e. he doesn't exist at the same time as Ness because that would create a paradox), it is not because he is in a weaker state at that time. I don't know where people get this idea from, but it is not in the game.

Hey thanks for clicking on my first ever Dark Aspects video! While there's still some good stuff in here, I must point out that the video is 6 years old and centers on a... divisive theory. I've improved a lot since 2014, and will be remaking this episode soon to bring EarthBound justice (don't worry, I'll still leave this video up for memories). Until then, I recommend checking out some of my more recent Dark Aspects episodes too- I've covered the Paper Mario series, Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie, Luigi's Mansion & more!
