Having worked in a movie theatre for 20 years.. This was a classic scene and so true. We never could really say what we were thinking about the movie or comment on the combos all they wanted us to do was upsell. But you did not really save much because of the tax which was tacked on. Unlike her I never commented on the movie and we were told just to say I have not seen it even though customers assumed you did since you worked there.
But once I got promoted to doorman I spoke my peace and was honest and actually for the most part the customers liked that honesty because if they were going to spend $10 just to get in and another $20 for concessions it had better be worth it. We would give the customers first 20 mins of the movie before they were allowed to get a re add and their money back which was a pain especially when we were busy. We never said like her chemical sludge instead we would say if asked Its Butter Flavoring(fake butter) becuase of my sincere honesty I had in two occasions actually buy me a drink from concessions and bring down to me. I would tell them its good movie or its okay... I would tell them go out have a good dinner and some drinks and when you return you will enjoy it better or see it differently.. I had my own customer service style... Customers like that.

00:39 - I love the manager's laugh here. It's almost like he has a sense of humour for about 0.2 of a second.

I liked the deterioration of their high school friendship as they grew apart during the movie, with Rebecca trying to grow up and work to be able to rent their first place and realising Enid's clinging to high school and won't be economically viable as a flatshare candidate.
