We haven't had an octopus levitation yet, and I think that would be absolutely terrifying. Imagine tentacles reaching out from the abyss to grab your seamoth, or fully wrapping around and crushing the Cyclops. Getting lost in an ink cloud. Tentacles=nightmare fuel
In regards to the leviathan re-, I think it's time for a redesign. The original design has differences but the similarities are too occurring to ignore. I'm not saying it was traced or done on purpose, I very much doubt they would do that.

11:10 If you're going to redesign it I'd suggest redesigning with heavy inspiration from things like the Ghost Shark, the Angler Fish, and the Stoplight Loosejaw. And various other IRL Deep Sea creatures, if this thing is primarily somewhere where there isn't any light, or barely any at all, it should also be sort of like the Garg and Ghost Leviathans as well. Also, the Stoplight Loosejaw HUNTS by lighting up its prey with red, bioluminescent light which its prey can't even SEE! If this thing is supposed to hunt with Light then I honestly think you SHOULD draw inspiration from the Stoplight and Angler for any redesign.

I really hope that Subnautica 3 has a similar kind of open beta testing to the original, because that's what made it so good. People saw massive background objects and tried to go to them, so we got the Aurora. People were terrified by the passive reefback, so we got the Reaper. As well as that, a significant amount of bugs were fixed due to open beta testing. Maybe we could get a free demo which just lets you explore the starting area. I'm just really excited for Subnautica 3.

the leviathan was great and interesting but i would like to see a biome based of( single cell living biome which hunts ships and vehicels who hovered over it and the only way to survive it is to turning your lights off and using your sound cues or your sonar radar to guide you while the biome itself is trying to hunt and pull you down and engulf you within itself ) which was actually a old concept for the original subnautica but was scrapped due its complications in design of it and it also being way to complecated for players to actually explore it ) so i really hope they add this feature in there new instalment

Since it's so close to the seafloor, I think it would be cool to have the leviathan physically based on something like Marine Gobies (The Yellow Watchman Goby for example) using their fins to push themselves along the floor, burrow and still be able to swim about with deepsea creature elements added

In regards to the possibility of tracing you could try making some changes to the face and tail structure to totally distance from the possible plagiarized work. First to end of the tail giving it a fan tail as thats something uncommon in Subnautica leviathans. Then you can change the face possibly giving it a multi layer jaw where the main jaw is split in the middle with a smaller inner jaw that are connected to the outer jaws via a membrane maybe making it a filter feeder. Making it truly stand out as less of a hyper aggressive mega predator and more some peaceful giant but still able to defend itself when threatened

I'd say that the void spike leviathan looks too similar to the fan work and I'm of the opinion that it should be redesigned, which pains me to say because it looks SO cool in the concept art. I don't want to accuse anybody because I've known people who've been subject to "similar ideas" who legitimately just came up with the ideas independently of one another, but here with the pose, the head, the body shape--it would be safer to come up with a different design. And if the developers don't want to make it bulky, there are loads of deep sea creatures they could draw inspiration from and still evoke that nightmare fuel aesthetic.

Edit: I want to make it clear the Mod developer had no part of knowledge in any suspicion when it comes to tracing of any art, Even when i had initial concern the mod dev wasn't in my thoughts at all about it. We'll work with them to get a re-design going :) The last thing I expected after finding actual planned content / DLC for the next Subnautica was a speculative RELEASE DATE!! I actually had to wait for a dev to verify if what i found was actually meant to be public or supposed to be private, This is so insane i almost forgot the Void spike leviathan is also finally shown in this video! As always give me your thoughts, It's been a long time since we've spoken about Subnautica, I honestly hope they do add cosmetics if it is a planned feature for the next SN
