When they say it is for everyone, it means that it is supposed to be easier and not as good as the other games.

Pretty much going to be playing this solo and steering clear of the carnival events.

Christ. They should’ve canned this episode, it left me feeling way underwhelmed about their overall vision of the game…

The reason we aren't seeing a whole tonne of actual skateboarding content is because they're mostly focused on pushing and promoting all the Live Service aspects to the game. This is what pleases EA's investors, and it is ultimately their main focus on making another instalment in the Skate series. EA higher ups don't care one bit about the actual skating. They saw a a game series genre that could tie into a monetisation system that still satisfies their love for online only live service games system... Can't say I'm super hopeful which is gutting as when I saw the first announcement about the game I was over the moon... Then I realised what EA has become since the good ol' days of the Skate series.... God I hate the state of modern day games.....

as long as you aren't forced to incorporate the parkour into the way you play idrc what they do with that stuff, its not like someone else climbing a building is gonna affect how i play anyways. im just really excited for all the new spots and how it already seems to look like you can skate way more realistically than in skate 3

I've dreamed of there being a skate 4 longer than I can remember, so part of me is still in disbelief that it's getting made. While I want the Skate feeling for sure, I also want it to feel evolved. Evolved not just from it's own formula, but also alongside other skateboarding games like Session and Skater XL. This tells me that they are absolutely evolving in both of those directions while also incorporating FTP game mechanics to help sustain their vision within EA's model. People can be sour all they want but to be realistic, this is probably the only way an EA owned IP in a niche genre gets a sequel more than a decade later. None of us are going to get the exact dream version of this game that we've had in our heads. But it seems like far too many people look for negative things to say rather than understand the situation and appreciate the opportunity. Some of the really awesome things I noticed were small pop-outs from grinds (though some exits from the rails need work). I also loved the pinched feeble and modification from grinds being centered on everything in previous Skates. It looks smoother in each video and some of those rooftop lines were straight out of my dreams of this game in the past.

seems they desperately want to please casual players more than actual skateboarders/skate game fans. they shouldve focused on pushing the physics and animations to the next level but it seems we are going to be getting "skate 3.5 free to play always online version" (with parkour!!)

The pre-alpha was a ton of fun, spent like an hour and a half building/sessioning a custom skatepark I built with some random

The flumping stuff they're ramming down everyone's throats is fine, aslong as all of these climbs reward you to a hidden spot or some easter eggs. If its there and 9/10 times it rewards you with nothing then ill be disappointed.

The parkour and climbing stuff seems heavily inspired by Tony Hawks Undergorunds. I’m really not worried about the skating aspect of the game, I’m sure it will still be great but they want to show that it’s possible to skate anywhere and everything through this mechanic. The game says pre pre alpha so idk why everyone is getting upset about animations and story mode not being shown. They’re still working on the core ideas and mechanics before polishing anything completely. This is much better than not being shown anything for years, Atleast they’re being up front with the community.

I still remember when the original Skate came out. I have fond memories of spending weekend and days after school grinding out story mode and playing games of S.K.A.T.E. online for hours. All we had was THPS prior to Skate, and the realism with the flick-it controls was next-level. I felt like we finally had what skaters had wanted for years. Skate 2 got even better with off-board capabilities and another engaging story mode. Then Skate 3 came out, and while I still enjoyed it there seemed to be something missing for me. It didn’t feel like much changed besides the map, almost like a Skate 2 DLC with slightly better graphics. To me, this feels a lot like how Skate 3 felt to me. Knowing a Skate 4 is coming is amazing, I never thought we would get another one. The gameplay looks fantastic, I’m just curious how the long-term looks and how much replay value it will have. I still crank up my 360 just to play the first 2 games every once in a while.
