I remember playing this game in college during some of the darkest times of my life. No money, no energy, just barely scraping by in class, no confidence to get a job. Often went several days without eating due to lack of money. Parents were going through a horrible divorce, yelling, screaming, and crying. Dad smashed my guitar to pieces in a fit of rage one day. I'd lock myself in my room and play this game, and it would transport me to a foreboding yet beautiful world where I actually had some control over things. This game provided me the only happiness I had back then. My favorite game of all time.

I miss the safety and comfort. Early evening, homework finished, 45 minutes until dinner, dad watching the news, mom in the kitchen, GameCube on crt tv in bedroom shared with my older brother, watching him play re4. These small moments in time I wish I could make last an eternity.

This song brings me back to 2010. My dad would play this game when he got back from work and id watch him and we'd talk. That was such a simple time, would do anything to go back to when I was like 10 years old and the only things on my to do list were school, homework and play re4 with dad. This song is so soothing and I remember sometimes I would fall asleep watching him play and I'd wake up to Leon standing in the save room and him at work.

I recall when this was on the PS2 back in middle school 2005.. Man, the memories were golden. Went camping that same week with my grandfather and family. It was pitch black, while I played RE4 in the lakehouse. Open blinds and a dark but soothing atmosphere. Nothing but the trees surrounding the lakehouse. The room itself was my safe room the minute I played this game. I recall this tune and told myself how memorable this moment is. Never left my mind or heart every time I came back to this. Miss you, Grandpa. 💙

Probably the most heartwarming yet depressing theme I’ve ever heard in a video game. It really gives the vibe that Valdelobos was once a peaceful village. But after the Los Illuminados had taken over, that “Serenity” of the village was now gone and lost forever after being corrupted by the evil of the Los Plagas parasite.
