To all of the people claiming that Chloe is "too pretty" for the role. The original Carrie was pretty. To me at least. Answer this question though. To be awkward and be picked on do you have to be a huge nerd or be fat or be physically "unappealing"? Of course not. There were several people I went to school with who were some of the most attractive people I knew that were bullied and called weird. If they had picked an "unattractive" actress, how would that make that actress feel when they found out they were picked because of that? Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. And not everyone thinks Chloe is cute. Also if they had a different actress, would it make the movie scarier? No. I don't think so. Because although this is a horror film it's not exactly....scary. It didn't put me on edge, make me jump or scream and nor did the original. But that's just me.

I was bullied a lot too. Especially in middle school. So I always like watching shows or movies about an innocent girl being bullied but not because I enjoy seeing a nice girl being tormented but because people like us can relate and understand. I feel like I just want to go up to her with a flower and hold her hand and tell her everything will be ok. Then I will put the flower in her hair and walk her home. Later then take her to a picnic, away from her mother.

I love this version of Carrie. It is my absolute favorite. I have been fortunate to get to play Carrie myself, and I based my entire performance off of this movie. I love how they casted Chloe, even if she is extremely gorgeous and Stephen King discribed her as being frumpy, I think casting such a beautiful girl was the perfect choice. It makes the story even more tragic, and plus, in my eyes, Carrie was a beautiful creature. She was just forced to hide how beautiful she could really be. When she begins to murder people, she isn't so much as beautiful as she is tragic at that point. Tragic and horrifying. I love it!

Poor Carrie...she doesn't deserve that treatment and shit that was given to her by her peers...I would punch all the girls who were ever mean to her in the face, and then I would hug Carrie tight. I would've been your friend any day, Carrie. You were a wonderful girl with an amazing talent <33. And those people are assholes to bully you so much .

Alright, so I just finished the book, and I'll watch the two movies (never watched them before). But I don't really get the comments under this trailer saying Chloe was "too pretty" for the role. In the book it never says Carrie is actually ugly. She just has no confidence, is very religious and naive, and dresses poorly. She looks bad because she's probably hunched over, and she cannot take care of her appearance because her mother wouldn't allow it. At one point she even refuses to have dinner because she says her mother's food gives her pimples. When she actually frees herself from her mother's control, she combs her hair, makes herself a beautiful dress, and she gets genuine compliments back. Tommy, who takes her to the prom, even thinks she looks way prettier that he first thought. Posture and taking care of your appearance can make a person look extremely different. In the book, it also states that despite being "chunky", Carrie has really nice legs. It hints that she's not really that fat, perhaps juste a little bit of belly fat but that's it. The story takes place in the 70s, I doubt their definition of "being fat" was the same as the current one. She might have been what we call "thick" nowadays... Bullying a person can make them think they're ugly, stupid or worthless, it can destroy their confidence and have a very negative effect in how this persone perceives themselves. Carrie's story is heartbreaking and truly one of the hardest ending to a King's book... because during the prom, Carrie actually felt happy, and people started to treat her better thanks to Tommy and to how she suddenly looked better (freed from "momma"). But the prank was already set, and Carrie thought they all lied, when they were genuinely nicer to her. A couple of idiots ruined everything, and Carrie never got her happy ending. Can't wait to watch both movies.

Yes, the actress is pretty. But bullies don't necessary pick on people because they aren't attractive. That's not what draws them to their targets - it's a vulnerability they can almost smell. Someone who doesn't feel good about herself, who appears timid and fragile. That's the key. That's what brings out the fangs, the darkness inside.
