We're back! And here we have Italy, a country that's known for occasionally voting, shall we say, eccentrically at Eurovision. Back in the all-jury days, you can kind of see a thread to them liking stereotypically passionate songs (most especially Ireland, who sometimes reciprocated the love and sometimes remained unmoved), then following an extended hiatus, the diaspora started flexing its weight a bit (you can spot the one that was the most vocal pretty quickly). Nevertheless, they're a country that keeps you on your toes!

Fun fact: Rumor has it that Italy never actually organized a jury for 1990, so they just got a group of Croatians set up in a hotel near the venue and had them vote on their behalf. You'd think that'd explain why their spokesperson initially thought he was from Spain, but...no, he was Italian, just absentminded. (The Croatians also appeared to very conveniently bypass voting for Italy's two biggest rivals that year, France and Ireland. They're friendly like that.)

Stats for nerds: if the 2013 system was used for the last few contests, they'd have given 12 to Ukraine in 2016, Moldova in 2017, Denmark in both 2018 and 2019, and Finland in 2021.
