Sky News host Liz Storer reads out an “incredible list” of benefits for people who work at the Commonwealth Bank.

The list of benefits includes five days of life leave, menopausal and menstrual leave, $1,000 in CBA shares each year, pet leave and over 500 staff deals.

“The CBA was one of the first big businesses ... to take a really hard line getting people back into the office post-pandemic so I think this was part of it,” Ms Storer said.

“Everyone knows, nobody wanted to come back into the office.

“So they were like, ‘right, we are going hard line, you are coming back in – but we will compensate you with a list of ridiculous benefits’.”

People who have worked for a bank know how horrible it is, none of these bullsh&t benefits makes working for a bank any easier.

Don' t bank with them. They don't provide returns to the people that provide them with liquidity through deposits.

5 days of life leave, that's not entirely fair to the dead ones at CBA.

They probably have to offer all of those things because of a toxic work environment.

Just remember it is YOUR money they are using. All that interest they are NOT giving you.

The ever looming possibility of lay-offs wouldn't be nice.

People may not agree with it, but goodluck to them. There are other work places would do similar. If people worked there, they wouldnt knock it back. A $1,000 worth of shares is the best part of that.

Liz, mate it's not 1000 CBA shares per employee per yr, it's $1k in CBA shares per yr which is < 10 shares pa & this is available to all employes of most all listed companies- it's a function of the tax law not the CBA employment contract

It is a commercial enterprise! They can do WHATEVER they want in terms of benefits to attract and retain staff. Otherwise, what are you proposing instead? That the govt should stick their nose into our lives even more and start placing limits on what commercial enterprises can offer to their staff, in some deranged pursuit of "equity"?

I dont believe the economy will suffer because the "sickie" is nothing compared to the amount of unpaid overtime that employees engage in is ridiculous.

This is why you aren't a boss, fronting up to an employee’s home to question their illness will land you at the dole office.

Taking a mental health day is not usually about my health, it’s about the safety of those around me 😮

I’ve seen the Kilmore branch in Victoria shut for the day due to lack of staff, now we know why. Just a note on the door.

Hello, boss. Yes. I need some pet leave. Oh sorry to hear it. I can only approve one week. Okay? Fine thanks. See you next week then. By the way, what's the problem? Er er ... Goldfish has toothache.

I don’t have a problem with this. If any organisation makes a big profit year after year and the board and CEO get handsome salaries and perks then it speaks a lot that they also offer the rest of the staff deals and perks. If they didn’t then you’d be saying they were miserly. The sorry leave is a bit stupid but no, I think they should be generous.
