Hey everybody it looks Alicia Keys has released or at least she's the first artist to release a song that's centered around Ferguson and New York City protests that are going on right now. And you this always seems to be the case with these celebrities or musicians. They always release a song or event or they'll take a really old shitty song and then they'll say that oh this song could apply to this event or this song was specially written for these kinds of events and.this song is called We Gotta Pray and it's a pretty bad song and it sounds like the lyrics could have been written by a third grader. . It's almost like she went to the studio or got some demo that didn't make it off her last album and just said lets put this out and make some money because Ferguson and New York City are in the news a lot. And I am a big Alicia Keys fan .I think she's an underrated artists and she's got a really great voice. This almost reminds me of when 9/11 happened all these artists who had these horrible songs or songs that weren't so good, when these events happened they re-released these songs and then they say oh this song applies to 9/11 even though it wasn't written for this never specifically written for that purpose. It's kind of a cheap way to cash in on something and you know what i think it's a way for Alicia Keys to stay relevant considering she's on hiatus having her second kid..Anyways this is a bad song. I give it a 2/5. And i think really too the song should be called something else too like let us pray or we gotta pray we should call it something like lets talk.. Lets have a dialog between two sides to solve issues because when was the last time praying solved anything. I think it's been a while. So I think maybe we should have a dialog instead. Thanks for watching guys and don't forget to hit the subscribe button.
"Keys calls for unity, strength and faith
Following mass protests in New York City and Ferguson, Mo., Alicia Keys released a new song, âWe Gotta Pray,â on Wednesday.
The release follows the grand juryâs decision in New York not to indict officer Daniel Pantaleo for the chokehold death of Eric Garner.
Keys told the New York Times she wrote the song after being moved by the deaths of Michael Brown in Ferguson and Garner in New York, who both died at the hands of white policemen.
âWe absolutely feel disregarded as human beings,â said the 33-year-old singer.
The three-minute ballad features lyrics such as, âFire in the air, what the hell going on? Sirens everywhere, singing that street song,â mixed with images of protesters in New York and Ferguson, tear gas and riot police.
Famous quotes from iconic civil rights activists such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi are interspersed throughout the song.
Keys, a New Yorker, used Twitter to express what the lyrics mean to her." - TIME
Lyrics
Come on, aha
You know
We gotta pray
We gotta pray
We gotta pray
Pray for the world tonight
We gotta save
Somebody save somebody tonight
Fire in the air
What the hell going on
Sirens everywhere
Singing that street song
Violence everywhere
Barely holding on
What the hell going on
Do you know who you are?
Do you know who we are?
We, we're extraordinary people
Living an ordinary life
One extraordinary question
Are we gonna run or fight?
So we gotta pray
Pray for the love tonight
Another day
Pray for another try
Smoke is in the sky
What the hell going on
Bullets gonna fly
Ah, right from the gun
Trying not to cry
Barely holding on
What the hell going on
Do you know who you are?
Do you know who we are?
We, we're extraordinary people
Living an ordinary life
One extraordinary question
Are we gonna live or die?
So we gotta pray
We gotta pray
We gotta pray
We gotta pray
We gotta pray
