I edit for a living (using premiere, because clients expect it). I work primarily as a broadcast colorist and all of the projects I’ve worked on I round trip to DaVinci for color grading. I just started actually using the editing portion of DaVinci and it’s really satisfying.
You can also change the keyboard shortcuts to the premiere shortcuts you are probably used to using.

I am looking forward to your future videos. I just purchased some subscriptions to stock footage sites, music sites, and have purchased many many assets like sound packs and such. I'm ready to begin my cinematic film arc. I have such a passion. Though, I'm a noob with the software. I've been using VSDC Video Editor as it's free (it's so bad, literally so bad) but I've been comfortable with it. But it's time to upgrade and advance now. 😂
I really hope Da Vinci Resolve is better then Premier... I just can't quite get used to Premier. I don't think it's an intellectual barrier of learning software either. Its all just muscle memory at some point, however, I hate working out my editor muscles with it. Thanks for your review of the cost analysis, and some features mentioned. I'm gonna see your newer videos. Subbed!

Thanks. I'm switching. Used the free version for a recent project to grade log footage. I was amazed at how much better the result looked. One of the main reasons I hear about people not switching is the word about having to edit past projects. Here's an escape trajectory I've used with other subscription softwares ...
1 Cancel your subscription
2 Resubscribe when ever you need to use it for a past project
3 Cancel right after so you don't forget (subscription is good until end of the month period)
4 Edit the client's project
5 Deliver the edit
6 Go back to Resolve
You can work in the subscription costs into your charges to your client. Obviously this works best if you're solo.
Also, isn't there another subscription you have to pay to use Pr as a team?

I find myself sharing pretty much the same situation. However the one factor that is keeping me from switching 100% to DaVinci resolve is not the price but instead the fact that premiere is what my team edits on. We do a lot of pr file sharing with projects so everything needs to be interchangeable within the team.

I have been using Premiere since 1995. I thought CS6( 2012 ) was great. I got CS2019, but I hated doing stuff in their other programs( Audition; After Effects; Illustrator; Encore ), then having to bring that work back into PPro - what a PAIN. I mean the CS2019 whole suite I got was $1650. Then they went to 'cloud' .. at what .. $49mo. ? I loved your simple, easy-to-understand explanation of D R. I subscribed to your channel. I'm ready to learn. You're a good teacher. You're patient. I like that. Looking forward to viewing all your knowledge and learning about D R and how I can use it for my video projects.

I like some things the Adobe suite offers, I’m only using it because it’s the required software for my classes. If I had my choice I’d be using Resolve. I like that everything is all in one program. I want to edit audio, tab over to fair light. It’s all there. Plus I own my copy of the software.
Again I’m only using Adobe cause my instructor says it’s the industry standard 🤷🏾♂️
Great video👍🏾👍🏾
