everytime Shane reveals some of his own childhood lore, i am continuously surprised he is not actually a Riverdale character that crawled out of the screen Sadako-style

Author here! I've been a fan of Watcher since it's birth and Ryan and Shane for years before that, so it was a real dream come true to be featured! Thank you to the amazing team at Watcher and for everyone showing love in the comments. It was a pleasure to scare the pants off you wonderful strangers!

going from an increasingly scary story to Shane immediately sharing some silly anecdote that’s barely linked to the plot never stops making me laugh

I love how they always call out men for creepy behaviour. Them immediately slamming the boyfriend for all his "red flags" was so funny and satisfying, even when it's in the context of a horror story. "Red flags all round" lmfao

“Are You Scared of the Man In the Crowd?”

That’s just the life of an introvert.

This was the first story that actually scared the shit out of me. Nothing is scarier than a creepy man

I think the most off putting and unique aspect of this story, is that the creature never fought back. Not against her. He just looked sad. Something about that is chilling to me. I'd be like "Am I having a hallucinatory episode and I just murdered my date??" I wish she had asked more questions in the ferris wheel, like who are you, what do you want, who is "her"? But I also recognize that just trying to ignore him was a pretty realstic way to respond to that terrible awful situation. And leaving it open-ended makes it more mysterious and interesting! That was actually a legit creepy story I didn't see coming! Like the dad at the very end, I was not expecting that twist! Very good story, very original, still leaves us with questions!

I was entirely expecting her to wake up in the hospital and learn that the guy was her date the whole time, and she went through a complete psychotic break. When she awoke, she was told the truth and realizes with horror what happened.

Then, right when you think that it was all in her head, she looks up...and there he is.

I love how Shane interrupts the story to talk about a violent episode of diarrhea he had lmao

I'm with Shane here...the start to the date was kinda creepy...the narrator admits they don't know each other too well, and he's already hugging her from behind...which is kinda intimate and something you might do when you've been with someone for a longer while. And then not being told where where going? and then being driven down an empty, isolated road through the woods in pitch black? I would NOT be calm in the slightest. I'd be panicking and wondering if I'm making it out of this situation alive. If we're talking hypothetical scenario where I'm getting into that car with him in the first place. Because that'd be a very, very unlikely thing ESPECIALLY after the invasion of my personal space. Like really, gals and pals, if someone puts that kinda thing on you on a first date DON'T GET INTO THAT CAR. Bc in a lot of situations that ain't gonna end well for you.

I'm not finished with this episode but I gotta say, going to an undisclosed location with a man you don't know very well? And he starts driving out of the city? I'd start thinking about how long it would take for the police to find my body buried in a shallow grave under a barn.

honestly the scariest part of this story was before it got supernatural... if you're ever being harassed like this go into a shop with lots of people in it and ask a woman working there for help

This is one of the few stories that has actually made my heart race. Maybe because the thought of having a man chase you is terrifying and very real . But regardless, the author Abigail did amazing .

the scariest part was when she and a near-stranger were driving so far into the woods at night that the radio went out and this girl didn't even THINK she might've been in danger 😭 i was worried for her survival instincts but she redeemed herself by immediately beating that thing to death

LMFAO "Red flags all around!"

I 100% agree, Shane, that was my immediate feeling too. If you did this on a real, first date, where you didn't know the person very well beforehand, I think this would be creepy as hell.

I think the implication isn't that the creature possessed her father, but rather that it murdered him and then stole his face, the same way it "took care" of her date.
So yeah, that's pretty chilling.
