History Documentary hosted by Peter Guinness, published by Discovery Channel in 2004 - English narration.

The Russian Revolution of 1917 changed the world forever. Almost overnight, an entire society was destroyed and replaced with one of the biggest and most radical social experiments ever seen. Within a generation, millions would be killed and almost one third of the world's population would be living in the shadow of communism. The programme make use of dramatised recreations, written witness acounts, interviews with experts and colourised archival footage to tell how this extraordinary event happened. They focus on the sailors from the island naval base of Kronstadt, who in 1917 took up the revolutionary cause with bloody enthusiasm, only to have their dreams shattered when Lenin creates a brutal police state. The sailors denounce their former ally and face the Red Army for a final battle.

Incredible documentary. Understanding the scenario that created the USSR is quite complex, much deeper than a 50 minute video could explain. But this is videos touches on many pieces and presents a sequence of events in a very logical way.

Tsar Nicholas, what a sweet summer boy. His detachment from the reality of the average Russian life is almost like high comedy of the darkest shade.

When you think of it, Stalin was the most powerful dictator in history (at least modern) - that guy bitch slapped Hitler and Nazi Germany the fuck out of expansion. The USSR on the eastern front is the only reason the war was won in Europe. All of you in the States, you played a part, but you guy were mostly in the Pacific front with your impressive Navy at the time.

Thanks for sharing. Always had an interest in how the Union came to be, especially after playing a plethora of video games focused around WW2.

It just shows how much political influence can affect a country, neighbours and occupied territory for example East Germany and how NATO prevented Soviet Unions influence in African countries
