Major label recording contracts have never been easier for you to get then right now - fact.

Before hand you had to be in the right circles, be lucky enough for your distant uncle to work at Universal, or have someone from A&R chance upon your gig on a Tuesday night.

Now, it's different. You need to know what labels like Universal and Sony are looking for so you can give them what they want.

This is how you can get signed in the next 6 months.

šŸ‘‡ ABOUT ME:
Hey! I'm Damian Keyes and I've worked with musicians every day of my life for the past 20 years. The internet is deeply untrusting understandably and here is my background so you can have the full picture.

When I was 18, I was signed to a major label (dropped 6 months later) and at 23 I co-founded a Music University in Europe called BIMM (valued at $300M). Iā€™m also a bass player, Iā€™ve played for a number of artists including Eric Clapton, Alanis Morrisette and Billy Cobham. I initially retired at 30, but realised that life gets boring if youā€™re not building!

I have always been in-between the music industry and education which is how I ended up building my YouTube channel - Iā€™ve been teaching artists how to release music long before it was a ā€˜nicheā€™! I now educate artists around the world with my Academy, YouTube channel and I work directly with labels internationally alongside owning a live agency and management company.

Itā€™s great to meet you and looking forward to working together on

Also I feel it's the journey, the process, not the destination. It's the value. Imagine being discovered and not being prepared for a sustainable career. One never stops learning.

I'm not looking at getting onto a label by any means, but these tips are still helpful to keep on reminding myself of what I need to do to keep pushing forward

If Iā€™m being honest these 5 minute videos arenā€™t doing it for me. The information feels a bit rushed. Still great content. Just pushed through a lot faster.

I've noticed that the problem I'm facing (especially with tiktoks and reels) is that I get pushed to people in my region (Algeria mostly) but my content is focused on American pop music which the people watching it aren't interested in but it's being shown to them anyways cause they're in the same region as me, and I feel like that's really holding me back. Any advice or way to work around that knowing that I'm really not comfortable with converting to my region's culture?

After watching your videos, I've made a TikTok! I've got 1.5k views over the first three videos, so for someone with 150 odd subs on YouTube that's quite a lot. TikTok specific content is something I struggle with though, I look through the rest of the feed and for the first time I feel old and I just don't get it. Any tips on that?

There might be good organic reach on Tiktok still, but it's pretty pathetic on IG and Facebook, Youtube seems quite random as to what gets picked up by the algorithm and what doesn't. Trouble is, most of the heavy Tiktok users seem to be teenagers sharing dance challenges or silly content, it's not really a platform for serious music or if your audience is over the age of 18, or if your music isn't teen-friendly popular music. Your videos and advice are great and I always watch them, could you please do a video about how to get labels (not necessarily major - 99% of us have little chance being even listened to by a major) by ways others than Tiktok? Thanks

Mmm if thousands of artists are releasing songs by the day, that's a lot of potential record deals being signed. Need to chop a rainforest down to get all that paperwork

I don't know, I just got on with Shrapnel Records and now I will get my E.P. Instrumental Metal/Thrash with clean parts available in all records stores in North America,Asia,Europe. I think if you are"good" and go deep composing"worthly"stuff then go for it. I sure did appreciate the 200 000$ advance to bring a full studio album of 9 songs but with a vocalist this time, no instrumental in 14 months. I think youtube gurus willalways be on,,youtube. But kids real life and real knowladgable folks are not youtube. Egomaniacs are. This guy will teach you only to be,,,on youtube. I am not even here.
