A pier in the San Diego suburb of Oceanside caught fire on Thursday.

The city's fire department released this statement, "The Oceanside Fire Department is currently engaged in fighting a fire on the Oceanside Pier. We are asking all citizens to please stay away from the immediate area."

The fire is burning in a vacant restaurant at the end of the pier according to KSWB-TV in San Diego.

Various boats are battling the fire with air assistance from one chopper with water drops.

No cause of the fire has been released.
