Ive heard that japanese cypress is used in showers/bathrooms so when it gets hot from the steam the smell is released, i’d love to have a room like that someday

Honestly I think even if an art supply is expensive, I feel like the overall design and vibe of them can inspire some sort of confidence and determination in your work, whether it's "these are expensive and I don't want to waste them so I'll take as much time as I need on this piece using these expensive materials" or "the aesthetic of these are one-of-a-kind and working with them is a privilege," etc. Or even role playing some extravagant fine artist using expensive supplies that eases anxiety through the process.

They still are a work of art in itself 😊 I worked with a scientist who’s specialty was wood identification. This is a one of a kind treasure to enjoy and I can bet these pencils don’t lose their smell. My favorite part was the case of birds eye maple and if you ever seen a piece of furniture made from it is like the shiny way you showed us the pencil case❤️❤️ thanks for your dedication to get these pencils.

Because I’m neurodivergent I cannot watch YouTube videos at full length, I’ve gotten so used to stimming through 30 second Tik Tok videos that I just don’t have the attention span for long videos anymore. Japanese Cypress (Hinoki) is a very expensive wood that is known for its amazing smell. You can buy blocks of it to put in the bath to make your bath smell nice, but I’ve never had that kind of cash 😂

You going "smell this pencil!" reminded me so much of my woodwork professor at university who came up to us while we were doing stuff in his workshop, picked up a handful of sawdust off the floor and went "smell it!" to us every day xD He was a great guy. Also I like to imagine that Shegeki Miyamoto watches your video and goes "finally someone who can appreciate a good piece of wood!"
