I feel this might be the saddest song she's written, along with peace. Loving someone so strongly yet knowing you can't give them the one thing they've always wanted. Loving someone so deeply yet slowly realizing and coming to terms with the fact that they are fading away. Breaks my heart every time

The first several times I heard this song, I couldn't help but cry. The heartache of giving your all even though "all" is so small and still not being seen or enough to carry on. Depression hits so hard, y'all. It's like you want to open up to others, and you know you need help, but there is no energy to do so because all your energy is thrown into putting on a facade. And the people you do open up to don't know how to help you either. You're screaming for help, but still nothing. So what happens next? When I hear this song, I hear me, and that's what Taylor always does best.

The way she wrote about a universal experience is just genius. And anyone who's been in a serious relationship can empathize with Taylor and the person she's talking about. Trying to resuscitate a dying relationship is exhausting and draining, especially if both parties did nothing wrong. It just hurts.

âAnd I wouldnât marry me either, a pathological people pleaser who only wanted you to see her.â Thatâs my favorite line in this song, it really hits home on this one. Once again another amazing masterpiece from Taylor đŠľ
