As someone who is really in to the more romantic/ethereal side of goth, I would highly suggest giving both The Mission (songs like Deliverance, Severina) and All About Eve (Flowers In Our hair, In The Clouds) a listen, it's alot more melancholic I would say, rather than dark, but overall just a great vibe And if you REALLY like the ethereal/mystical part of the music, you would probably love Cocteau Twins (Sugar Hiccup, Ivo, Pearly Dewdrops's Drops) as well stay gloomy my dudes!

When I was first getting into goth, I remember I kind of hated the 80s goth music because it sounded like music my parents would listen to. It wasn't until I stsrted exploring more modern bands like Drab Majesty that I started to appreciate more of the older stuff. Now I think I listen to more 80s rock than my parents do.

I’m new to goth. I’ve always had an appreciation for the dark side and I love dark colors. I’m still learning the history and subculture and building up my black and red style (hair makeup and clothes) and finding music I like. This wasn’t something I woke up one morning and decided “I wanna be goth” my mom thinks so, but it’s not true. Actually, goth this something I’ve been interested in for a while and I always wanted to try something new😊

This is great, I'm nearly 30 and a life long metalhead, but have recently taken an interest in goth, post-punk, and industrial after being invited out to a few dark dances. Goth is a beautiful community.

My favourite part of this video (besides the great introduction to Goth) was the double thumbs up at the end.

Sisters of Mercy also took me a couple of tries to really fall in love with them. But yeah I also got started on Bauhaus and Siousxie. This is a really comprehensive list also love the 45 grave love, really underrated band.

I know this video is older, but goth is timeless lol! What got me into Goth was sisters of mercy, 45 grave, and the frozen autumn. But actually, me learning about the subculture made me appreciate the history and then I started appreciating and soon adoring the greats like bauhaus, siouxsie and the cure and my love continues to grow to this day :) it's just so cool to see how different genres were influenced by their sound and I LOVE bass

I've heard a lot of people describe The Cure as depressing or sad, but I've always found a lot of peace and comfort listening to them. I can never stop loving Joy Division. Never could get into New Order though. Depeche Mode was one of the best concert I've ever been to. Hopefully I get to see them again sometime. Dave Gahan is amazing on stage, but Martin was just very special 🖤 I love him so much. He writes the best lyrics ever. The Sisters of Mercy is always a lot of fun to listen to. Always cheers me up.
