For anyone curious, at 35:52 the radiation levels that give a current reading are per hour. So it was 50R/h in that case, the "R" stands for REM. If you work with any type of radiation you are allowed 5R per year. These people were receiving 10 years of the (maximum allowable dosage per year) in one hour. These are all numbers according to the NRC if I remember them correctly.

My mum was born in Chernobylher grandmother used to work at the station, so I would always listen to her stories and how they got relocated so now watching this it brings me some sort of comfort and brings up a lot of stuff they told me.. I'm really happy that you guys are so respectful and sweet :D

Sam described it so well when he said it was a mixture of happiness and sadness. It's a dream come true for you guys to go there but a nightmare at the same time. I cannot imagine how this trip put life in perspective for you all. Even watching this is just humbling. One of the things I take away from this video is that people are resilient, and that, although undervalued, true heroes do exist. Another thing is that I am forever appreciaive of people who bring these kind of stories back to the public so we will never forget. Thank you guys!
